Also thought it was interesting it's titled 'Wicked'. No mention of part 1 or a sub title Makes me wonder if they haven't 100% settled on it being split or not. The Vanity Fair article that released at the same time still refers to the movie being in 2 parts - “We didn’t want to end up making one four-hour movie and then cutting out songs. We want to satisfy the fans of the musical,” says Platt. “Film allows you to create a place and a time—a university like Shiz, an extraordinary Emerald City governor’s mansion. There’s so much more to explore.” Also just to add that I think there are definitely some clips of both movies in this trailer. It’s titled Wicked - First Look so I think this is definitely intended as just a tease of the whole project rather than specific marketing for just the first movie.

Also just want to say how much I love this poster. We are so used to generic floating head posters for movies. But this is so effective.

It’s interesting that the CinemaCon footage showed mainly interiors while the teaser showed mainly exteriors.
I’m not worried about the use of CGI as the interiors look insane, massive, and lived in. I also believe they’ll continue tweaking the CGI before the release date. Studios are good at listening to the feedback from teaser trailers.

It’s annoying to hear the same whiny comments about this film, YES it’ll be in two parts for now, NO they will not advertise it that way otherwise it’ll just lower audiences who will decide not to watch it entirely as a result. Dune managed to hide it with no complaints, so what’s the problem with this? As a Wicked fan I can’t really complain as it means there’s more to see and take in. I trust that they’ll pull from the books anyways as there is SO much Oz lore. Act 2 REALLY needed that fleshing out which part / film 2 will undoubtedly do. I wish they would’ve actually given us *less* for this teaser though like Barbie did, perhaps with some cryptic visuals or just a very slight glimpse. With 9 months to go, they’ve got plenty of time to fix moments if needed..
It does seem very CGI based for now but bearing in mind that this is a VERY SHORT teaser for what’ll be a 4 hour total so I’m less skeptical. I’m also confused as to how some are complaining about the vibrancy with this, if I remember correctly the Little Mermaid was slated for how dimly-lit the film was? Wicked will very clearly have a lighting / saturation balance.

Just posting to say this looks cool as all heck and I'm excited for it. Some beautiful shots in there, particularly the one of Glinda resting her head on Elphie's shoulder. Cynthia looks stunning. Really digging the expansion of the Ozpunk aesthetic as well, I love the stage show but there's a lot of use-your-imagination matt black in there with the design coming through more in props and costume (and marketing materials). Goosebumps from the music, I know it's unlikely they'll use teaser trailer music in the final cut but I've been wondering a while how they are going to flesh out the songs we know out into a more full cinematic orchestration and now I wonder even more.
On the jeweled shoes it's not surprising to see them in silver but I want to hedge a small bet that they are hiding a reveal that they start silver and turn red when they become magical. Just a hunch.

The train does look like the one in Zootropolis!
I like a lot of it, I loved the shot of them running towards the Emerald City through the coloured flowers. Definitely some clockwork influences in the designs which I think is great.
I'm not entirely convinced a 20-year old Elphaba would have inch-long acrylic nails, but I'll go with it! The riff was not the notes I was expecting, but I'm sure it will work.

I'm surprised there wasn't a single shot of Nessarose in the teaser.

It’s useful to watch it at .25 speed with the sound off. It’s just too fast to see everything otherwise (for me, anyway).

I like that it looks slightly stylised rather than big gaudy and obvious. Not sold on the sound yet.

I really should get around to reading the books before the film comes out.

Why do musical trailers these days hide the fact they're musicals? I have no opinion after the trailer because it showed nothing, no songs and no singing.

Isn't this just a teaser though? A full Part I trailer might be more overtly musical.

It’s a teaser (not a trailer) that features singing at the start and singing at the end. It’s mainly just to highlight the visuals and spark conversation as of now.

So do the slippers change colors? No, that is a screen shot from Wizard of Oz. In the book they were silver. The movie changed them to ruby / sequinned shoes to stand out against the yellow brick road on film.

Yes, but there was reports that the ruby slippers would make an appearance in the Wicked movie's so I was wondering if the slippers will be changing colors back and forth from silver to ruby

Yes, but there was reports that the ruby slippers would make an appearance in the Wicked movie's so I was wondering if the slippers will be changing colors back and forth from silver to ruby Doubtful. In the trailer they were silver when on Nessarose’s feet in the Oz Dust Ballroom, and they were silver when Dorothy arrives to see the Wizard. So it doesn’t seem like they change colour at any point. We may get a surprise and they’ve been changed in post production, but as it stands it looks like they’re entirely silver.

Does anybody recognise the music in the teaser? Not defying gravity obviously, the score behind it. Like it's probably Music For Trailers Volume 7, Epic Strings Action 2 or something from pirates of the Caribbean or something like that but I'd still like to locate it if it's not created especially for the trailer
