ITV are actually showing the super bowl this year, and kick off will be 11.30pm in the UK.
But we wont get the same ads they do.

A trailer will mean that we should finally get confirmation of what the official title is. Will they go with Wicked Part One or will they give it a subtitle? Any guesses?

I don't think it will have Shiz in the title — far too much scope for the critics to poke fun!

I imagine Wicked: Part One is a fairly good indication that the film is a two parter. Given the backlash to Mean Girls not marketing itself properly I imagine Wicked will want people to know it’s a two parter.

Interesting to see Dorothy and pals in the trailer!

I know its only a teaser, but looks like another 'hide it's a musical' approach from the marketing team.

If I didn’t know Michelle Yeoh was playing her then I wouldn’t have spotted Morrible in that trailer

Seen a few negative comments about the look of it, lumping it in with the backlash against Marvel type movies where it’s wall to wall dodgy CGI. But then Barbie (which I still haven’t seen) looked like that in the trailer and didn’t do too bad. 🤷♂️
Don’t like the end. Sounds like she’s being throttled.

Didn't wow me tbh. Ariana looks, odd. The riff at the end was too X Factor try hard for my taste. Also way too CGI heavy in a very obvious way. Not unusual for movies these days, but doesn't make it any better.

I liked it other than I thought Cynthia sounded like Tarzan at the end...

This made me really excited for the film, it looks great!
I dread to think how many different riffs they had Cynthia do before settling on that one. Didn't love it in isolation, but maybe with the rest of the song/film it will feel better.

I'm quite conflicted on it. On one hand it looks visually gorgeous. I mean, stunning. On the other hand it looks EXACTLY as I had already guessed it would, which sort of feels like a lack of imagination. I'm not at all sold on Cynthia from the little it shows.

I was surprised how much the train going to Oz reminded me of the train in Zootropolis.
First thoughts are all about Ariana though. She looks so different, almost uncanny valley, like an AI generated humanoid. She’s so pale and I hate to say it, so, so thin.
The riff…is it reminding me a bit of Willamijn? I would imagine the brief was ‘don’t sound like Idina.’
Still made the hairs on my arms stand on end though 😹

The more I see and hear, the more I think its Goldblum & Johnny Bailey who are gonna make this.

First impressions -
Ariana I’m sad to say looks, well, odd, she clearly isn’t a blond and her brown eyes show it. Just ends up looking washed out.
The film looks like Wonka and Mary Poppins 2 and all these recent OTT CGI films. It looks beautiful but it needs to look real. 3D. In my opinion it doesn’t - but I shall wait to see the entire thing.
Is Cythnia speaking in an English accent? They messed with the accents in the London production and it brings in more back story for me. Yes I know Oz doesn’t exist.
Also the riff at the end it unpleasant to listen to. Forced.
That said, there are some nice set pieces, ensemble casting and colours in the trailer - I’m excited to see it. Shame they don’t make It appear more like a musical too (like someone said above)

Like others I’m conflicted by this first glimpse. It looks… too fake. CGI, plastic, overly animated. Considering a lot was filmed on elaborate physical sets that’s disappointing. Knowing they went to so much trouble to actually build sets outdoors and on location, I was hoping for a more grounded, darker, “real” feeling Oz but it all comes across a bit Little Mermaid and may as well have been shot on green screen (or probably blue for obvious reasons!) if what we see here is anything to go by.
Also surprised at the lack of ruby slippers. I know they would have had to pay for rights, but they’re so iconic and so cleverly introduced in the musical that it feels like an oversight to make them silver when Dorothy is wearing them here. But that’s a tiny thing.
Overall, I’m just a underwhelmed I guess. At least they’re not shying away from the fact that it’s a musical, but I’m hoping it gets better the more we see of it.

I bet that’s not the riff we get in the final edit. I bet they’ve recorded a bunch of options and if they tease different ones the fans will lose it. Great marketing.
Agree with above though, what is the point on going on location if the whole thing looks like CGI?

Also thought it was interesting it's titled 'Wicked'. No mention of part 1 or a sub title
Makes me wonder if they haven't 100% settled on it being split or not.
