Has anyone else had the same thought?
Whilst I don’t doubt their individual talents and what they can bring to this project, (to the best of my knowledge) it does seem strange that all three leads have never actually been in a production of this show 🤔

It's much easier to make actors in their 30s look like they're in their early twenties just by using make up.

They're coming into it with no previous experience of how they did it before, or what the characters might have felt at a certain time in the show. They're fresh to the relationships within the show and that can make it more organic. God that sounds so naff, but i can't think of how to write it differently.

And this version won't be written the same way the stage version is

I always think shows must be easier than films in some ways because you're following the character linearly. If you film (say) all the Emerald City stuff in a chunk then you have a character at very different points in their lives with very different feelings and motivations to swap between. Still, there are lots of film actors who are very good at it, so I shouldn't worry. But I do think of the bit in Ballet Shoes where Pauline find it difficult because it's broken up into takes.

What happens at the end of the novel?

What happens at the end of the novel? {Spoiler - click to view}Elphaba does in fact die, Fiyero is long dead by this point and Oz is thrown into massive political upheaval, I think Glinda is the temporary prime minister or something until Elphaba's brother kicks her out and she ends up in prison.
I like Jonny Bailey I think he's a good actor who will do a great job, I do however feel like if they are going to claim the books and they're taking more from that...Fiyero isn't a white man in the novel. It's a plot point, something they are at least aware of because there's a reference to his diamond tattoos in the book about the musical I got and I had maybe hoped in vain that it might be something they corrected since it's always bothered me about the musical. The books are pretty much a lot gayer and more political, they're two very different animals to me so I have no idea what Jon Chu is going to bring in unless Glinda is going to marry an old man in a lavender marriage and there's going to be that bizarre philosophy club orgy scene.

Depending on who they cast as Nessarose she might get an entirely new song. But it's big to the plot if you haven't seen wicked {Spoiler - click to view} Elphaba does a magic spell which makes her disabled Sister Nessarose Walk. And Nessa does a spell which makes Boq the tin Man

But it's big to the plot if you haven't seen wicked Yeah, but that’s just a scene with a song in it. The song isn’t vital to the scene it just happens to be in it. If they truly wanted a song I think it would make more sense for Nessa to have a solo once Boq has done a runner and Elphaba essentially gives up on her and she’s left alone in the governors palace. That’s just my prediction and is based on absolutely nothing other than The Wicked Witch of the East being the least known song in the show.

The wicked witch of the east is least known because it was deliberately left off the cast recording to avoid spoilers. It's a key point in the show, at least as far as the tie-in's to the original film go.

Yes, I know why it’s the least known song in the show but the reason isn’t important because it’s still the least known. I’m not talking about cutting the scene, just the song. It might be a key point in the show but you cut that song and replace it with another and most people won’t notice the difference.

I’d be devastated if they cut it. I think its my favourite moment of the show; not necessarily favourite song, but the whole realisation of what is going on still excites me, in a show that is otherwise short on thrills.

I think it’s a really powerful scene. Especially the ending where Elphaba essentially decides to cut ties with Nessa, it really hits me on a personal level.

What Holzman, in particular, gets right is the rate at which the ‘WOO’ links get slid in and remind you that this is slightly cleverer than it looks on the surface. Whilst the Lion gets a cheap sight gag, other characters are weaved in, in genuinely surprising ways.

There are loads of tiny things I loved as well — the "lemons (?) and apples and pears, oh my!" is the only one I can remember at the moment, but there were definitely more.

Michelle Yeoh as Morrible Ethan Slater as Boq Yeoh just started shooting the new Kenneth Branagh Poirot film so expect she won’t be announced in wicked soon - if she’s in it. Admittedly morrible won’t be around for the whole shoot…

Horrible line to Elphabah when she's singing 'I'm not that girl' under the bright and its raining 'Be careful Dear- we don't want you getting wet!" Elphabah to Dorothy "Who steals a dead woman's shoes? Where were you raised, in barn?" Glinda to Dr. Dillomond "Can't you just teach us about history? Instead of just going on and on about the past?" And finally Glinda referring to him as the dog Doddo
