This is true but also, by and large the general public who don't normally go to see plays wouldn't have known about Streetcar when it was at the Almeida, not until they'd read the press reviews maybe. Now on the other hand, with all the publicity and with PM Oscar nominated, it would be much more in people's radar. The day seats thing is hilarious, I wonder what they're going to get people to do outside the theatre. 

If it was Guys and Dolls, I'd suggested a dice game.

General day seats question from an American: On Broadway there's a distinction between an in-person rush (first come first serve) and an in-person lottery (everyone's name entered in a hat). While I've been over here, I've so far assumed that day seats = rush, but then this "game of chance" is being called day seats. Is that always the case for in-person lotteries?

It's a small theatre and the tickets sold out immediately. If you're young and new to theatregoing you won't really know the 'hacks' to get tickets for a sell out show and if you're not London-based, trying for returns on the day isn't an option either. 

Good Grand Circle seat for 7.30 pm on 13th April now on for £37.50 - D14.

Also good stalls seat - J13 - on at 2.30pm on 27th April. It's £200 but still cheaper than most others at this stage.

So gracious, she really is wonderful in this. It’s incredible to think how she learned it all so quickly.

Thanks so much for sharing that article Rory. Having seen Ferran both very early in the run and then later after it opened it was so interesting to hear about the process. You can see why Frecknall said at the preview that she was 'the bravest' person she knew. She comes across really well in that interview and she's just so excellent.

I can't believe it but I won the lottery! When I clicked on the date, it was 3rd row and the very last row in the stalls which were available - I did click the link 25mins late so there might of been seats in the Dress Circle too - for anyone wondering which seats you get!

I just got an email with more details about the “day seats.” It’ll be interesting to find out when people start queuing up for this.

“At 5pm (evenings) and 12pm (matinees), the first 30 people to arrive outside the theatre each pick a glow stick.

They look identical but upon snapping them, only five will glow green. If you get lucky, you can swap yours at the box office for a pair of £10 front row tickets to the show.

If your glow stick doesn't light up - all is not lost. We also have an exclusive allocation of standing tickets - also priced at £10 - available to those who play the game but don't get lucky that time around. If any of those remain after those people have had an opportunity to buy, these are also available to anyone else who enquires at the box office shortly before the show.”

Just wait til people figure out what brand they use and bring their own
