I'm not very familiar with Tamara Harvey's work, but Chichester under Daniel Evans has certainly come out of the pandemic with a lot more flourish than the RSC, and he has experience of being a member of the RSC company when it was still a proper company. Hoping it is true and that the RSC has recognised that they need a new direction, not more of the same.

Hear Hamlet opens Swan with EW directing I wonder who EW will deem acceptable to play Hamlet. Arthur Hughes maybe a logical choice.

Not sure Whyman has the depth to direct Hamlet. No matter who she puts in the lead.

Not sure Whyman has the depth to direct Hamlet. No matter who she puts in the lead. Yeah but who she puts in the lead will be the main point she wants to make, the actual production is secondary. Who do we think for the Chichester job ? It is a nice high-profile one which requires a somewhat populist director rather than a metropolitan miserablist.

Very interesting that the name I've heard as taking over has yet to be mentioned here...guess we'll see tonight!
Edit: Oh no, I tell a lie, someone said they'd pulled out...

Let's hope we don't get the usual RIP RSC posts from the usual suspects. It's quite tedious that people on here are suggesting that a theatre organisation will no longer exist or be destroyed just because they appoint a new AD.

Let's not have someone trying to dictate what can and can't be posted on a discussion forum.
If you don't like what people post, just ignore them or block them.

It won’t be a joint leadership that’s for sure. It’s got to be Harvey. You’re about to find out that you’re wrong.

catw She’s currently directing a musical adaptation of The Famous Five, which has been in the works for several years, and is a coproduction between Theatr Clwyd (where she’s AD) and ChichesterFT (where he’s AD.)

Joint appointment is a bit of a surprise. Much will come to the details of how they will split the responsibilities and their working relationship.
We shall see
It isn't continuation Doran/Whyman which is a positive

Do we think Erica Whyman applied for the role?

The death of the RSC has been greatly exaggerated.
Chichester and Theatr Clwyd will need new ADs although I assume in the case of Chichester, the 2023 season probably is already in the planning so whoever takes over won't be able to make their mark until late 2023 or 2024.
