It won't happen, but I'd personally love to see Sheena Easton return! She famously vowed to never perform in Scotland again in 1990 after the infamous bottling incident though, so that might hinder her wanting to commit to a tour as well, even if she did return on a long shot. Tell me more! As a Glaswegian who actually grew up in the same area as Sheena, I'm embarrassed by this whole incident and I'd like to think that today's generation would never behave this way as it was a few years before I was born, but Sheena infamously returned to perform in Glasgow in 1990 as part of the city of culture celebrations, in front of around 200,000 people in Glasgow green and was hurled with bottles filled with urine, ultimately cutting her set short after just three songs. She had become a pretty big star in the states in the 80s and adopted a bit of an American accent, so when she came on stage and started speaking with a twang the crowd turned on her and started throwing 'filled' bottles and little lights that had been handed out earlier in the day. The whole thing was tragically broadcast on TV and is pretty uncomfortable to watch - The TV crew tried their hardest to conceal what was going on and cut away after her third song, but you can clearly hear people chanting 'Who do you think you are' etc whilst she's speaking between songs. Sheena also describes it as the most embarrassing moment of her career in this interview - This incident is like folklore in Glasgow and will almost certainly be the first thing someone will bring up when Sheena's name is mentioned. She's still generally disliked to this day. That said, I think she's a brilliant vocalist and did brilliantly in 42nd Street in 2017.

Oh god that’s awful. Shame on those people behaving so hideously, Absolutely, it's terrible behaviour and totally reinforces the totally outdated stereotype that Glasgow is a rough place, when really it's a very progressive city steeped in art, music and theatre. For example, I remember when I was younger and used to watch CHF vlogs, she made a comment on one of them about how she was amazed that so many people in Glasgow were into theatre and coming to the shows during her time in Addams or something along those lines and it really annoyed me! Back on topic though, Sheena really didn't deserve that but I suppose it was a very long time ago now. The same thing happened to Daphne and Celeste at Reading Festival lol I've seen that video too, they seemed to be a bit of a novelty act though and I can't help but think they were loving every moment to be honest!

I've seen that video too, they seemed to be a bit of a novelty act though and I can't help but think they were loving every moment to be honest! They were a pop act that never should have been booked at an indie/alt/rock festival. They had two songs and both were awful and yet i still remember them. Stick You and U.G.L.Y (you ain't got no alibi, you ugly!) And so concludes my TED Talk on D&C. Back to 42md Street... The last time I saw a tour of this was in 1990, in Birmingham. It was the first UK tour with the wonderful Meg Johnson. It was a huge production identical to the original and at the time, the staircase they used was fabulous. It probably looks cheap these days, but it was a real moment when it appeared.

I’m very excited. I’m a huge fan of Ruthie’s but have never actually seen her live, so I’m thrilled I already have tix for this!
