It works with ‘Bat Out of Hell’ and used to work with ‘We Will Rock You’ when it had a set. Total theatre has a lot to answer for.

I saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it. The set is bizarrely brilliant, and everyone I spoke to was having a great time. Yes, it's a collection of songs rather than a full musical, but a lot of them were fantastic, and the vocals were great. Georgina Onuorah really stood out for me. Rob Madge singing 'Don't be a dick' whilst bouncing up and down on an avocado-shaped trampoline was really quite something. It was sold out last night and is again today, so hopefully it will find its audience and do really well, despite the doubts raised on here. A lot of fun.

I don't often see something and really not enjoy it, but I really thought this was very poor. It's probably aimed at a younger audience than me (though I do qualify as a millennial!) but I don't think that should stop me enjoying it if it's good.... this wasn't.
It was very short, coming in at just under an hour, and very loud and in your face (both sound and the OTT set design). There were a couple of decent songs in there but when there's so few and no narrative I feel like at the very least every song should completely hit. The bouncing around on trampolines and throwing balls about all felt like distraction tactics. I probably don't get the song cycle concept either but was baffled that so many years have apparently gone into this, and this is all there is to show for it.
For the positives: there were some lovely vocals, Georgina & Hannah especially shone in their solo numbers. Luke Latchman was surprisingly sweet, and I'll opt to say nothing at all on the other Luke.
It's getting all sorts of praise on the socials, which is the target audience I guess, but for me it just felt like a self indulgent first year performing arts project, not something you'd deliver to an actual audience.
A warning for anyone who doesn't like audience interaction: don't sit downstairs, if you sit upstairs the cast will still come up and try for a chat but if you grab a seat in the middle you can avoid it all!

Oh, well, I mostly just found him rather smug without the vocals to back it up. He was definitely the weakest, his song could potentially have been a big moment but didn't do much for me.

The WOS review sounds very fair and balanced, I haven't seen the show and the set tour put me right off, but it seems to have some fans.
To me, and I am on the tail end of the millennial generation, the marketing online has been doing a detriment to itself; for the past two years since it's been workshopped the ONLY thing I have seen about it is an avocado emoji... that's it. That article and joke were tired and embarrassing when it came out years ago and it now reads incredibly dated and not something strong enough to hinge your entire brand on. I get that its trying to take a negative and "stick it to the man" but it just reads and immature and petty, something my generation is frequently accused of so... i guess strong branding?!
I also find it odd and uninspired to just name the show Millennials, you are automatically not going to reach any older generations who might take something from the show (or at the very least buy a ticket for a song cycle) and the visuals for it look more like its pandering to gen Z. The bulk of millennials are 30 now, who is this show for? The novelty of sitting in a ball pit would only work if those tickets were £5 for me. please give me a nice chair, ok just a chair with a backrest.
I am glad that people online are enjoying it, and some are already repeat viewers, so its always good when a show has supporters, but unfortunately nothing is really tempting me to go and try it out.

I did enjoy this tonight. Although I’m not sure how much of it I identified to as a “millennial” (aged 31).
There’s no denying any of the performers - they all excel and the vocals were brilliant. I must give a shout-out to Rob Madge and “Don’t be a dick” which was the highlight.
At an hour in length it did feel a bit short. Definitely a different kind of musical.

Yes, and they will have queued up early as those prime positions go first! Up to £35, I think, depending how savvy they are at booking cheaper seats. From the date I attended, the people in the ball pit were all female and too young to be millennials (which was the same with most of the audience). |

I would have thought with names, leveraging Heathers footfall and a small house it would sell well even if it wasn’t my type of show and the mediocre reviews. £32 was punchy but thought they would keep the discount less extreme. If they started Millennials 30 minutes earlier, you’d have people watching both (myself included). But a trip to The Other Palace for just a one hour show really isn’t appealing (at least for this show watcher, who only just falls outside the Millennials age bracket).

They should have done a 5pm show to line up with the two show crowd, then a more standard 8pm show. I used the Avo15 offer and felt it was worth that price, but £32 is a bit steep for a one hour show. |

When I saw it you could definitely make heathers directly after, I saw a guy in front of me so just that as I exited.
The capacity in there is so small though, I'm surprised they can't fill it.
