I guess it’s true that it doesn’t reach the lofty artistic heights of Thriller Live, which also had a gripping storyline throughout and dazzling choreography. Also a scenic and lighting design that was at the pinnacle of achievement.

Because people like different things. I despise Abba but raved about Abba Voyage and would go again. Your issue clearly is with the man and his music and not the intrinsic quality of the show.

Loved him & his music. My problem is the intrinsic quality of the performance I saw. (Which admittedly may not be representative of the show normally).

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Barnaby as invested in a show as this. What gives mrbarnaby?

The ticket sales are pretty sh*te for a major musical

Maybe the inevitable Kings of Leon / Ed Sheeran / Oasis musicals in future years will be more visually dazzling and with a razor sharp plot.

They don’t really lend themselves to entertainment.

Wasn’t impressed when I saw it. Maybe I went on an off night but I was expecting more from the big set pieces. Even the finale felt flat
We have had two musicals about one if not the biggest superstar in the last 50 years and both have missed the mark
The songs just seemed to drop in and didn’t work around the narrative as well as other jukebox musicals do
I saw the touring show of the Osmonds Story a few years ago and for a show that had a similar, albeit not exactly the same, type of story that was done far better

Just seen a proper advertisement for this on itv, I haven’t seen a theatre advert on TV for a while I wouldn't read too much into that. I've seen a lot of shows advertised on tv, including Wicked and The lion king. Seems much more common these days.

Third visit, third time not getting Myles Frost. I'd complain more but as it was papering, I will take what I can get.
This time it was Kwamé Kandekore, the standby MJ on and I liked him. He plays MJ as a little tighter coiled then Kieran Alleyne, the dancing feels more focused, more deliberate. Alleyne plays him almost as a force of nature, the moves come so easily and he just dances, Kandekore gets across the discipline and the effort. It feels like one of them shows MJ as naturally and the other as ... almost studiously, worked and working to get here.
Both Mitchell Zhangazha and Ashley Zhangazha were back on and both are great, I'd vote for both in the Oliver's and suspect we could (should) see them nominated.
The book kinda works in places, the moments where Michael and MJ interact are really strong and the way Thriller works for the relationship with Joseph is pretty excellent but so much of it is still just nonsense. It also again, just ends.
Jackson was my first musical love and after seeing it for the second time recently, I've read a couple of books on him notably J. Randy Taraborrelli's biography and it makes a couple of the lines funnier and adds lots of context that MJ just hints at.

Strange one tonight as was unintended after a busy week at other shows, a Row A stalls ticket came up on Rush and thought it would be rude not to! A full cast (to start with) with the new kids then at the interval an announcement just before it started saying Kwamé Kandekore would be taking over the role of MJ for the 2nd half due to the disposition of Myles Frost!
No indication that there was anything wrong in the 1st half but I guess you never know

I’m surprised he’s still doing it in London…Myles is off more than he’s on.

Yet ANOTHER cancellation of tonight’s performance (due to cast illness).

What is going on with this show?
They have three MJs and these cancelled shows happen far too often. And they’d have happened even more if they hadn’t imported US covers over from time to time to help them out.
