Adaptation of Virginia Woolf's novel which is fairly faithful to the text. The gender fluid and seemingly ageless story of Orlando is depicted with plenty of verve and lots of laughs and never takes itself too seriously, except perhaps in the angsty final section.
Nicely produced, the enclosed box stage giving the performance the look of a fairground attraction, this is a romp (reminded me a bit of Cyrano) - Carry On Woolf, if you like. Enthusiastic and committed acting from the five actor ensemble with a special mention to Taylor McClaine in the eponymous role. The gorgeous costumes set the scene and the tone, this is a really well staged piece. Not easy to do epic on such a small stage but they manage to carry it off.
Another good production by the Jermyn.
