Didn't spot a thread on this so thought I'd make it. I saw this at the King's in Edinburgh this afternoon and I loved it! I went in not knowing much other than a brief summary and that it was based on a 90s film. But I connected to it really quickly and the cast did a fantastic job. You can tell it's a really big budget high quality production from the scale of the set and effects. They really make the most of their performance space, I have never seen the King's be so well-utilised before.
As for the audience, they were lapping it all up. Jokes were all landing, applause in all the right places, full standing ovation at the end. It was so unusual to see this sort of reaction at the King's which is primarily a drama theatre with a more reserved audience. It had sold really well too with full stalls and dress circle. I think the upper circle was closed but it tends to be for a lot of productions here, and then the first three rows in the stalls were empty, presumably closed due to how high the stage is for this production.
My one complaint is the pacing of it, it seems a little too padded out in places so I think if it is remounted there will be some cuts. This was something I could hear people discussing on the way out as well. I think the tour is going to Inverness next, then who knows where after that but I really hope this gets a future of some sorts after the Scottish tour as it was just brilliant.

I was thinking of seeing it but didn't see any buzz about it on all the theatre forums I'm a part of and then I read this right after the last performance. Wish you posted earlier in the week!
