Julie in that sort of role when she left Corrie would have worked even if her singing voice wasn't up to much as she was so well known and a good actress. Her playing Moma similar to Bet would have worked IMO.
Maybe Julie should say to Gemma "You cannot sing, Get it, Got It, Good!

Worse than Julie Goodyear’s leather clad rendition on tv of that same song? Many years ago admittedly, but I’ll never be able to unsee it. It was excruciating. Tried to find that out of morbid curiosity, but could only find this. Sign her up! She wasn’t in very good health years ago when she did Celeb Big Brother, but she’d probably still show up more than GC. Ah ! That was it, my mistake , it was these boots are made for walking , I’d tried to banish it from my mind .

My Eyes!!! My Ears!!! What was that?
Is there a word for this sort of ‘I think I’m great and having a big camp laugh, but really it’s just terrible’? It is EXACTLY what GC will be like, and anyone that slates it will be told by her that they ‘just don’t get it’. No, it was just awful. End of. No high camp subtext. No so bad its good. Just plain AWFUL.

The terrible thing about that Julie Goodyear video is that's she miming. So that's the best she could do even when pre-recording it.

I saw Julie during the ill fated Coronation Street musical where she sung a song, it was as horrific as you’d imagine even when she was in on the joke.

Had a good laugh watching that video.
How is that allowed to happen? Surely someone, somewhere had to say, "listen, Julie.."

I think we saw the true measure of Julie Goodyear when she was in Celebrity Big Brother and it was deeply unpleasant. Dreadful woman!

Julie had a spat with Coleen Nolan on CBB I recall. I can remember seeing her out of character on shows like Wogan where she came on with her cigarette holder and did come across as a bit of a Diva so maybe there are some GC similarities but Julie at her peak was one of the biggest stars on the biggest shows on TV especially in the 3 or 4 channel pre Satellite/On Demand multi channel era. I read somewhere that she made a bomb by doing PAs in the 70's.80's and even 90's so she was financially set when she left Corrie in about 1995.

Yes Corrie only had 20/30 strong cast factor in the elder performers who likely didn't do PAs and the likes of Julie would have done very nicely out of that. Also with Tax rates being so high then a second income was useful and it is possible some were paid in cash even too

Lee will be good in that role. I would have liked to see him in do this, but unfortunately it's after the Manchester run and he starts the same time as GC

Sheila Ferguson and Russell Watson just on the ITV London news talking about Chicago. Sheila said it was wonderful getting standing ovations every night as its unusual for a musical. She must have been in or seen some stinkers then as these days people give standing ovations at the drop of a hat.

Lee Mead taking over as Billy Flynn from May 31st That's unfortunate, I'm happy to see him getting work, but though I'd like to have seen him in this role there's not a chance in hell I'm giving money to any production with Gemma Collins in it.

I’m trying to work out whether Plymouth or Llandudno is easier for me to get to - Sinitta is back as Mama Morton for those two venues (and Belfast I think)!

Gemma Collins has hijacked this thread. No real comment about Russell Watson.
I saw this a couple of months back in Southend and Russell was out and was out all week
This week in Dartford Saw this again and yes Russell was out again and has been all week apart from Tuesday.
A poster said 10 pages ago that he was also out in Liverpool.
as anyone seen him perform?

He also missed a HUGE amount of his The War of the Worlds dates in the original arena tour (the good one, with no Marty Pellow in it). I saw him and he was absolutely superb.
However, with a massive "H" (not the one from Steps), he had been ill and was only just recovering from a (second?) brain tumour operation around that time I believe.
Has he done any other shows people have seen?

I saw Russell in March when the show was in Stoke, we were really impressed and I could be wrong but I they extended some of his notes to make the most of his voice.

Has he done any other shows people have seen? Years ago I saw him in the concert version of Kristina- from Benny & Bjorn from ABBA who were there at the time- at the Royal Albert Hall/ He's also on live CD recording.
