It was a quality production over here when it first opened too. Such a shame.

Ute Lemper was such a force of nature in that original cast here

If you want a quality production with no stunt casting, come to Madrid. We´ve got the full orchestration (and very well played, may I add), 100% musical theatre triple threats, and the iconic staging we all know and love. And dirt cheap tickets!

It's not even a rumour! I had the ATG members email announcing the performance dates and on-sale dates for Manchester this morning. Would you mind sharing the details. Out of all the millions of ATG emails I get, I didn't get this one!

I guess it’ll give Amber Davies something to do once ‘Dancing on Ice’ finishes. She'll be going back to Pretty Woman...

I saw it last year on broadway with no stunt casting and it's such a great show when its performed well. It's such a shame it's never done in the UK now without celebs. Totally agree. Saw Ruthie & Ute in the original London production which was superb. Some of the subsequent casts were great also. However the dancing and general energy of the last UK tour was so poor I vowed I wouldn't see it again. Really hope there's some proper MT leads in the new tour and that I'll be tempted to go back as it's a fantastic show when done well.

Some posts have been removed and others moved to the bloggers/vloggers thread in the General section. Before continuing the discussion there remember our rules about respectfulness towards other TheatreBoard members. Professional criticism of people in the industry is fine but there’s a line.

This old warhorse!
Loved it to death in the 90's and 00's but the production is dreadfully passé now

oh I still enjoy the production, I just wish they cast proper people in it! Yes, it's a tremendous production when it's cast right. There have been the odd surprise with celeb-casting that has been brilliant but sadly they keep whacking it out with names that can't do the show justice. Fingers crossed they don't with this tour. Wouldn't it just be lovely to go back to the days of theatre where it didn't rely on celebrity names to sell.

This has sold ridiculously well already at my local venue, weekends close to full in a big theatre with no cast announced yet. Come From Away did amazing business in some big venues around the country. Can't speak for all venues, but definitely some.

Are there any casting news for this? Would love to see the show again. Supposed to be Giovanni from strictly as Billy Flynn, however I would imagine this will have been re cast due to recent news

Really happy with this cast. I did read they're not all contracted for all venues though so better to check local listings further down the line before booking.

Solid casting. Billy’s ‘Both Reached For The Gun’ note will be clicked but he’s charming enough.
