Am more excited about this than Bad Cinderella - mostly because Aspects of Love was my first musical ever that I saw on Broadway. The score remains a personal favorite. I'm a little worried to hear "reimagined" and "you won't recognize it" - and Ball has belted the hell out of Love changes everything that it's my least favorite from Aspects (there is more to love is my favorite, if anyone cares ) but I get that the story wouldn't work by any stretch of the imagination in 2023. Don't know the director. Hopeful that it would be a decent size orchestra. Looks like I'll be making my first trip to the UK next year

For all the tweet states March, the article says May, for a run of 26 weeks. I guess something else will go in between Get Up Stand Up and this.

"Reimagined." Is he going to be ghost George opening the show? Obv they've stated he's playing the older gent, and for all intents and purposes, "Love Changes Everything" is one of MB's signature songs. Shall we speculate on other ways the show will be re-worked? Alex was possibly Jenny's father - her desire for him was a bit of a squick factor to begin with, so will George be the definitive father? Also, will Alex's age be bumped up by a couple of years? I love some of the songs in the score, but in these days of #MeToo and #CancelCulture, the very adult bohemian bed hopping might not go over with the general public.

I think the average Joe will be fine with the bedhopping but I am not sure how some will cope with First man you remember. Although I suspect many a bus trip won't care as long our Micky sings out.

I'd forgotten about this rumour and then the email popped up this morning.
Just edited my post as I've just seen he will be singing Love Changes Everything.
Let's be honest, an awful lot of people will be going just to hear him sing that song. No one does it better than Mr Ball.

I wonder if we should prepare ourselves for some gender swappage?

I'd forgotten about this rumour and then the email popped up thus morning. There will be lots of Michael Ball fans disappointed when he doesn't sing Love Changes Everything if he is playing a different part. He is singing it, they’re “reinventing” the show so that he can.

My heart sinks when I read "reimagined" these days - Michael Ball as 'Rose'!
Still, at least it's not "immersive"!

If anything needs reimagining, it's that damn score. Please, ftlog, remove some of the many reiterations of that dreary Love Changes motif. Every 5 minutes it rears its head, just to remind you the composer can do motifs. My 2c.

Terrible logo. It hardly screams mid 20th century France! More nineties romcom. Hopefully only temporary!
Really curious about this but I hope they don't remove all the nuance for fear of offending people. Not everything performed on stage should make people feel comfortable. These are flawed, complex characters, just as real people are.

That word has become such a cliché as to become meaningless. They bumped up Alex's age by 2 years in the last London revival at the Chocolate Factory, though I didn't really get what that added. It's a beautiful score save for the instances of Love Changes Everything. Which is unwelcome each time it appears and sticks out like a sore thumb. But that was ALW caving to commercialism at the time... I'll definitely go and see this, although I suspect the issues that put some off the show won't be resolved.

the very adult bohemian bed hopping might not go over with the general public. But at least in that aspect the show (and original book) were way ahead of their time in that they showed two liberated self-determined women who took lovers like they wanted and weren't the whiny "I need a man to rescue me and cling to" pseudo-heroines so many shows of that period favoured. My guess that the cast will be very diverse and colourblind and that least one of the female parts will be played by a trans performer as in other "reimagined" works recently.

It did have another London revival after the Menier at Southwark Playhouse but I don't remember what they did change wise. I just know I didn't like it that much. I never saw the original production but did enjoy it at the Menier.
