Honestly been put off by the ticket prices, but just bit the bullet with the London Theatre Week offer on TodayTix for front row center Grand Circle for £45. Always been a stalls or dress circle guy, but then I remembered that's where I was for Avenue Q back in the day and it was actually a very good view from there.

A lesson for me today about procrastination! Seats in back row of dress circle I had been viewing a couple of days ago priced at £55 for some dates and £75 for others are today £95. I thought at worst when I went to book just now that a few may be gone and we'd have to sit further to the side, not that they'd increase by £40 each!
I'll definitely be booking for at least one performance but I think I'm going to hold off for another bit and see if it ends up on TKTS or something. Let's be honest, it's not like the tickets are scarce. And the London Theatre Week offers I've seen aren't so good that I'll feel like I'm missing out if I don't book with them.
Edit: London Theatre has them for £75 now as a sale price but I am absolutely certain when I checked with them a couple of days ago they were a standard seat with their fee included for £66.

I'm not sure that putting the word "old" in anything is a very good idea marketing wise. To those not in the know about Sondheim, 'Old Friends' will a bit fuddy duddy, and the YouTube ad that keeps popping up has people in formal suits singing the opening lyrics of "Comedy Tonight".
What would have been a better title for this?

It moved to the Gielgud in June 2009 for a bit before moving to the Wyndham's.

What would have been a better title for this? So far I've come up with one I think the more sardonic side of Mr S may have been amused by: "Not While I'm Around"

Oh that's an awful pity! I do hope she's okay. She was wonderful in the concert broadcast. Also very sorry for those who had booked for those first few shows and now have to rearrange plans.

This really messes with my schedule. Obviously I hope she’s ok but something here confuses me. Do they not have understudies? It just seems odd to just cancel the first week because of this.

Could there be a better title? Perhaps. But I have no problem with "Old Friends" since you don't necessarily have to understand the Sondheim connection. "Let me introduce you to a few of my old friends" is a pretty common expression.

also affected as was going to first show. Have rebooked for just over a week later and the same seats. I asked if Haydn was being replaced or if her songs were going to be spread out amongst the others. Was told being replaced but no announcement yet. Secretly hoping they can get AJ Casey.

This will now have its first preview the same night as Sunset Boulevard, Barbenheimer for theatre queens…

I vote for Maria Friedman to come in and save the day but she'll be in rehearsals for Merrily on Broadway.
Maybe Rosie Ashe?

No thanks.
Another vote for AJ from me - or Sam Spiro?

I suspect nobody and an understudy will fill in. There’s enough talent there to cover without them losing sales over this. And it’s not like she was drawing big numbers anyway - this production is not selling well at all.

Bonnie Langford said on BBC Breakfast that herself and the other co-headliners are in the ensemble, appearing in lots of the numbers and doing the harmonies. It's not as much of a performer walks on, does their song and then goes off as the previous version was. Presumably as it's a lot smaller cast.

Surprised they’re delaying at all to be honest, rather than just covering (or even skipping!) her songs in previews until a replacement is found. It’s ultimately a concert after all and they managed to just cover when Hannah Waddingham - who was ultimately a much bigger draw - had to pull out of the original one-off special.

It’s ultimately a concert after all and they managed to just cover when Hannah Waddingham - who was ultimately a much bigger draw - had to pull out of the original one-off special. I think the answer lies in creating early buzz. They are very keen for critics and invited audience to see a star-laden early cast and get those review quotes up on posters. How many shows have we all seen where original casts are front-loaded, director in every night, star names. Then gradually quality drops, the show is frozen and dance captain is running the show. Performers don’t get replaced like-for-like in terms of stature (if at all - “do we really need to spend this £3k a week while ticket sales fall? Performer ax can double”. The reviews for opening are the key and endgame for many producers. How many times did respected critics go back and review Les Mis or Phantom or Wicked between opening and a decade later? Yet those productions constantly cite reviews which were 20-30 years out of date at this point. Front load, get good reviews, hope for sales and then downgrade cheaper ASAP to find that crucial profitable running figure. Anything else is a bonus. #dear
