I think the performance just now on the Royal Variety will have shifted a few tickets. It was a great performance and the audience loved it. Loved this just now! Making me itch to book again. Hope it does capture the public attention.

Agreed. Whoever edited that together really did a terrible job at showcasing this incredible show. What a waste to cancel a sold-out performance for this! Hopefully people can look past this and book but judging about social media chatter, it didn't look to do a whole lot for the show.

I get the feeling they could have been singing about anything or any emotion, and they'd still have done that choreography.
The plot seems irrelevant to the spectacle.

Best seating tips please for view / sound? Might pick up a couple of tickets in the TodayTix sale - discounted sections seem to be most of the side rows, back couple of rows of Brooklyn and some of Manhattan.

And haven't even seen the show yet, im seeing it in the new year and that little performance has kinda left me thinking was it worth booking tickets?!

I really didn't like the Royal Variety performance. It didn't feel like the same routine I saw in the theatre, and they seemed to spend a lot of time standing still. I know the staging has to be different, but if I didn't know better I'd think they were hustled into there without any time to adapt the choreography.

To me it proved that the original producers were right, there isn't emough triple threats here to sustain a production
The dancing was great but the singing was very weak.
They looked more like young kids though which is an improvement on broadway

Well, I enjoyed it. I did think the first dance section was a bit 'empty' and didn't capture the energy or choreography especially well though. They definitely could have done more with it but I thought it was fine. The 'there aren't enough triple threats' here was always inaccurately reported in the first place and is pretty harsh IMO, I've been nothing but blown away by the talent in that cast.

I think the had to "downsize" due to the size of the stage at the Royal Variety. Theatre stage is a lot bigger and more newsies than at this performance.

Higher up although ok..you don't get the real feel of the show. Yes Brooklyn you miss bits above you etc but without question..pay the 99quid IT IS WELL WORTH IT. Saw and juliet today...initial thoughts were it's no newsies..but grows on you.. saw backtofuture again its no newsies Newsies in another class.but boy what a spectacle. Backfire is ace your kids will love it! Note stalls not really tiered so a big head does block view. And Aldelphili theatre for and juliet Dreadful no leg space. Poor. Newsies excellent seating..but....omg kids rustling paps! Coughing g omg! Then the constant rustling of stressing packet -thanks for that! Popcorn for a load of kids yep rustle rustle Selfish people. BEST SEATS Brooklyn 4rows end of. Amazing Amaxi g show and stage door cast fantastic friendly.

Saw this tonight on a £25 Rush seat through TodayTix.
I was sat in Woodside DD12 and I thought the view and sound from there were faultless. You feel really immersed in the show with the Newsies literally surrounding you, and it doesn't feel "side-on" thanks to the open way it's played. Manhattan looks a long way from the stage and I'm glad I didn't sit there, and there's no way you can feel as connected to the show from those seats.
The ensemble own this show, they are phenomenal. The show does drag when they're not around and I didn't feel much chemistry between the leads. Michael was better than I feared he'd be, but I do think there must've been stronger actors out there. Great voice though and he delivered the big notes. The staging and choreography are astoundingly good, when it's in full force it feels like an absolute event. It works really well in the space. I can't imagine many theatres it could transfer successfully into without losing its impact.
See it for the ensemble if nothing else. It's the hardest-working cast I think I've seen since 42nd Street.
I do worry it won't make it until April though (or definitely not past that). Tonight was just over half full (though the audience clearly loved it), and Rush tickets have been routinely easy to get since they launched. It'll be a shame if it whimpers out, but I doubt it has much reach outside of MT-World.

Simply put. Watch this show. It is amazing. Sit in lower Brooklyn or even the sides, Lincoln...totally different ( much much better experience ) the closer you are. Without doubt. Pay the extra. Although Lincoln are only £60...YOU will not regret it. Honestly. And i am no theatre fan really, can't afford it to be honest - expensive hobby! - but a must-see show. No question.

Although Lincoln are only £60...YOU will not regret it. Honestly. And i am no theatre fan really, can't afford it to be honest - expensive hobby! - but a must-see show. No question. Not everyone can afford to "pay the extra". There are plenty of people here in the UK who love theatre but either cannot afford to go at all at the moment - which you suggest applies to you - or, if they do, can only afford to book the cheapest seats. I saw Newsies twice during the £30 previews, once from a seat that now costs £85, the other time from a seat that now costs £32.50 and I consider that the £32.50 one to be 90% as good for about 35% the cost. I'm lucky that I am now in a position in my senior years that I can afford to indulge in my passion for musical theatre but that was not always the case. If I had a monthly budget of say £90 for theatre visits I would rather book £30 seats and see three shows than pay top price for one. Yes the view depend to some extent on what you pay but you still hear everything and see most, if not all, of the staging wherever you sit.

Also - get day seats. £25 tickets and you can get seats in Brooklyn and the front of Manhattan, which sell for at least double some performances. If you're willing not to be picky, it's a great option.

But the simple truth of the matter, having sat in 7 different postions over 5 shows in the last week ( moved twice ), without a shadow of doubt, the experience you get from Lincoln, Brooklyn..around first 5 - 7 rows ...is MUCH BETTER...SO MUCH BETTER...IMPACTFUL..than other positions. I would actually go as far to say, if you cannot afford to see Newsies within those areas ( Licolon is around £60 ), then don't go.

(My opinion - the closer you can sit, the better. Back of this theatre is like sitting at the other end of a football field. But there are other advantages to sitting further back, there are entire sections of songs that you simply can't see sat up close. And if it's all you can afford, absolutely no one should feel like they shouldn't go. Not everyone values the same thing from a seat location anyway!)

I'm glad anyway that you and your daughter were able to visit London and enjoy the shows you were able to see. I also had a show cancelled 45 minutes before curtain up in 2021 but I was able to rebook for a couple of weeks hence and I'm only an hour away from the West End by train. Very different to your circumstances.
Believe me if there had been any way of running Hamilton at its normal and expected standard that night it would not have been cancelled.

I've seen Newsies from the front row and from a row so far back they had to start doubling up on the alphabet - both were excellent experiences. While I do recommend the day seats while it's sadly selling poorly enough that it's almost a given they will be easily available all day, I absolutely would still recommend any seat you can afford if you need to book in advance. Don't miss out on a fantastic show because you don't have £60 to blow (I certainly don't) just because of some poor advice on a theatre forum! It's all very well sitting up front in Brooklyn, but you actually miss some of what goes on behind you when the cast are using the walkways throughout the seating!
Also yes, there's no Lincoln. Perhaps they mean Richmond? Which is an area of seating because it was a borough in 1899 - although now it's Staten Island
