So none of the held back seats went on sale then today? Was waiting dead on 10am and no new seats came back for the previews. Gutted - website crashed 3 times on me yesterday when I had a chance during a break from work. So was hoping the seats they held back would be available today but nope - nothing?! Most of the held back seats are available via the Disney box office - www.disneytickets.co.uk/newsies-musical-tickets

So now most of us have got tickets sorted… who’s tipped to be in the cast? Based on what I’ve seen of Newsies on YouTube, I think Charlie Stemp would be perfect, but will he still be tied to Mary Poppins?

I'm really hoping Jac Yarrow will be in it. He performed the lead role at Arts Ed.

I would prefer Jac to Charlie. I need some belty pipes for "Santa Fe" 😁

Relented and booked 5 of the cheaper seats on the edge of Manhattan for a Xmas week family treat. Something to look forward to.

Having just got around to booking for this for the 2nd preview, it's a shame that there wasn't an option to have a physical ticket instead of an e-ticket. I would have loved to have had a physical ticket with a nice bit of artwork on it (similar to the tickets you get with Mary Poppins) to add to the ticket collection as a souvenir.

Watched the filmed musical this afternoon for the first time. Ok, it was nice. I have to say that some of the acting was hammy AF. And yes that includes you Jeremy J. Im sure it was great in the theatre but close up offered no favours. As for the rest of them, lots of costume tugging to replace actual emotion which I hate (tug the cap to show you’re cheeky, tug the waistcoat to show you’re proud etc). It’s like the Nolan tugging her cardi in Footloose to show pretty much every emotion from A to Z.
Apart from that, enjoyable but I’ll not be booking Wembley thanks.

I watched the filmed broadway version a couple years ago when it was on BBC2 and loved it. Then watched it again recently on Disney Plus and it didn't grab me as much as the first time (aside the couple of big numbers). Agree on the acting. It's all about the dancing.
Also watched the original movie on Disney Plus and enjoyed it more.

I wonder if the promised “flying” is intended to replace the gymnastic “tumbling” I saw. I think it’s a fair expectation that we have talent able to do the dancing but when they start doing cartwheels and handstands… maybe not.
Seems to me that the Katherine character has only one proper dance scene. The show could be adapted to remove that (just spin her round on a printing press or something) and allow anyone to be cast. CHF is being very coy about upcoming projects. Just saying!

In cinders alone we had two male performers who did and that's just one show.

Do you know, I rather enjoyed watching this on iPlayer...despite some well dodgy accents, and adults in short trousers playing kids, which I normally hate.
Goodness me, the audience was giddy with excitement. Cheering the orchestra. Cheering the scenery. Cheering a somersault. Cheer, cheer, cheer... We don't want any of that nonsense in this country, thank you very much.
I'd book to see it in the glittering West End, but a schlep to London, then a schlep to Wem-ber-ley, is probably a schlep too far.

Just finished watching it and really enjoyed it. Agree about the audience, clapping and cheering at anything but it didn't put me off. I really liked the staging and thought it was one of the best filmed live musicals I've seen. That was a huge cast, there were hundreds of them. The dancing was amazing and hope it will be replicated in London. Realistically I know we won't get a cast or orchestra that size but hope we get the choreography. That theatre and stage was massive, must have been 100 seats wide. Does anyone know what theatre it was filmed in as the titles at the end came up so quickly I dodnt catch the name of it.

When I saw it in NY, the audience just screamed throughout and I wanted to turn a power hose on all of them.

We don't want any of that nonsense in this country, thank you very much. The night I saw it on Broadway the audience went absolutely crazy at everything. Apparently it wasn't always quite that extreme, one of the cast commented that it was 'like previews again' for the audience reaction. Might have been something to do with there being some kind of show choir competition in town at the time so loads of kids from those were in - I sat next to one of the groups and they were the nicest bunch of kids I've ever sat near, but they were having FUN. I fully expect a similar reaction in London, at least early on!

Is it just me but is this the score to this (and Sister Act) consistently weak throughout? The odd good song but a lot of padding

Brits somehow seem to do "grit" a lot better than Americans. Isn't it about time we hear something about the casting? Or are they still busy cloning Jordan Luke Gage, so he can take over everything from Newsies via Moulin Rouge to Hadestown?

I think he is a talented actor, although I've only ever seen him in &Juliet and The Show Must Go On, but why does his name get mentioned for every musical that seems to be casting? There is plenty more great talent out there. Personally I would love Jac Yarrow to be in it as so far we only know him for Joseph and Panto.

Oh please don't let it be him - we need someone with an ounce of personality to play Jack...
Sad that Grace is doing Cinderella at Hope Mill too as that's her out for Katherine - Zara McIntosh maybe?

Thank you both I also don't know why he's the flavour du jour and I would also hope for Jac Yarrow to play Jack and for Zara McIntosh to play... well, anything really, I love her - could be Katherine, could also be a brilliant Eurydice I think, if Hadestown would come back. But I assume that she's still got a contract at &Juliet for a while.

That said, the score has grown on me and it really does have some bangers!

I happen to have a bit of info about who is playing the lead in this production and can confirm their name has not yet been mentioned.
He is relatively new to the industry but was recently found in a revival production.
