Was so happy to see this today and had the best time! I was confused why there were SO many children in the theatre for the matinee, was there no school today? The audience reaction was extremely tepid so I assumed people weren’t enjoying it but afterwards everyone had huge smiles on their faces and were laughing louder and happier than they were during the show, which made me happy.

Schools might be on strike?

I thought it was OK but songs were not memorable & John Owen Jones was wasted.

I need to listen to the soundtrack before seeing this I think, have heard a lot of the 'I couldn't be me without you' and didn't like it.

Oh the music isn’t great at all but it’s a light, fun show that fans of Bake Off can enjoy. I did find myself essentially forgetting all about it later in the day but I still had a really good time while I was there.

If anyone would like a free ticket to see this today at 3pm, let me know. I have a great seat in the Royal Circle that I can’t use and don’t want it to go to waste. Edit - Ticket claimed.

Well, that was lots of fun. Quite frankly, I couldn't have enjoyed that any more that I did.
Thank you mattnyc for the ticket.
I've actually never watched a full series of Bake-off and thus have not become attached to any of the bakers and their back stories or personal journeys.
I have seen several episodes of An Extra Slice.
But I have seen enough get all of the references.
I found this to be not only be enjoyable, but well thought through and constructed. Clever lyrics.
Simple, yet effective sets.
For what it was, I would throughly recommend this.

"Mostly the songs sound like they’ve been generated by ChatGPT software that’s been exposed to too much panto." Ouch...

2 stars from Time Out to who I virtually always agree with so this doesn't bode well...

Ouch. The songs are forgettable and JOJ's talent is wasted, but I thought it was perfectly charming and had me smiling from start to finish.

Very mixed-to-negative reviews as well from the i and the New York Times but I doubt the audience for this show cares one whit about the reviews.

Well, this was the perfect antidote to a cold and miserable Thursday afternoon walking through central London on my way to the NC. Having taken advantage of the £35 ticket offer on TT a few days ago, it got me Stalls Q22. A great seat with the added advantage of having no one around me so I was able to watch the show in peace without any distractions.
Brunger and Cleary have written a really engaging, heart warming and funny musical that for me captured the TV show with plenty of innuendo chucked in for good measure. There were some really funny songs performed by the brilliant cast that kept me thoroughly entertained and laughing for the entire show. Though I’ll admit whilst I enjoyed them in the show, I wouldn’t of said that they would be ones I’d listen to post show.
With the full cast on at today’s show, Claire Moore as “Babs”, was great fun and her Act 2 solo was the highlight for me. JOJ and HG made for a great double act as the judges and the use of the motorbike was a piece of comedy genuineness.
Rating - 4⭐️

American visitor here for the week, got tickets for last night. Loved this show - great songs, incredibly talented cast, and just a perfectly sweet uplifting night out. I feel super lucky to have gotten to see it. If you have an opportunity to catch it, do!

I really enjoyed this. It captures alot of the heart that the series has. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but it was far better than i expected. Thankfully they havent gone for a parody version, which I thought it might be.
The songs were fun, and all the cast were fantastic. JOJ isn't wasted in this at all. He's just doing something other than Les Mis or Phantom. Yes, its emotionally manipulative, but i didn't care. I welled up twice and I loved it!

Saw Matinee Performance today. The show did not disappoint. The Bake Off Musical is fabulous in every way. Has humour. Has sadness has everything a musical can have. Songs are fantastic.
Cast was incredible. Massive shout out to the fantastic young performer who shares the role of Lily Ben's Daughter. Played by Aanya Shah today.
Defo hope the show continues.x

We’re in London at the end of April for a week. I would like to see this show, but at the moment there are no offers that far into the run and as I cram as many shows as physically possible into my week, I can’t afford to pay the full price. I’ve noticed on TKTS it’s heavily discounted most days so I’m going to take a risk that it will still be the case further into the run (unless it gathers momentum like ‘Sky’s Edge’ and becomes a sell out).

It's been one of those days: a miserable trip in miserable weather to Bournemouth for the football; a call from the Menier on the way back to say that Marjorie Prime tonight was cancelled; a hasty rebooking at The Great British Bake Off Musical proving to be a disappointment even on a £25 Rush ticket; and then Scream VI being the worst film of the year so far.
I have never watched TGBBO, but I have seen enough Gogglebox clips to know it's not for me. Unfortunately, it turns out that that carries over into the musical.
Act 1 is bearable, but act 2 drags and drags. The cast is highly accomplished, but the material is weak. The story nevers strays from a path that is entirely predictable, and not one of the jokes lands for me.
Haydn Gwynne is always good value but even she cannot make me warm to Pam Lee, this musical's version of Bake-Off judge Pru Leith. I rather dislike Leith, and Gwynne's impersonation is too close to true to pretend her character is anyone else. Some of the contestants are lazily and stereotypically constructed. I can't say I cared for anyone or had any emotional engagement.
The music is serviceable and inoffensive, but instantly forgettable. The lyrics have moments of wit, but not enough to keep me entertained throughout the uninspiring book.
I think this show is strictly for fans of the tv programme. At least I didn't pay much.
Two stars.
Act 1: 19:32-20:33 Act 2: 20:54-21:57

Super obvious baddie, but cracking performances from the ‘core four’.

I think this show is strictly for fans of the tv programme. I've never seen the TV programme but I saw the show last night, after managing to swap my ticket from next Thursday, and I quite enjoyed it. Admittedly that might have been partly because I'd just seen the matinee of Woolf Works & I would have probably enjoyed almost anything undemanding by comparison!
