I think for a lot of us this will be one of those moments where you know exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard. And for me it's pretty much the end of an era (and I can't say I particularly like the new era that will follow but we'll see). I'm not a raving Sondheimite but at least 3 of his shows are in my top 10 of all time, and the two times I interacted him he was nothing other than gracious and pleasant. A huge loss that I knew would have to happen (I was mentally preparing myself for this after Hal died). But it doesn't necessarily make the loss easier. It's our collective 'Something Just Broke' "I remember where I was Just exactly where I was"

The billboard facing towards covent garden which advertised Frozen on the theatre royal Drury lane has been replaced with a large black and white photo of Stephen looking happy and contented and the words. Farewell Stephen Sondheim 1930 - 2021.
Looks especially effective after dust as backlit it really stands out. Nice tribute from a LW theatre.
If no one posts picture in mean time will try to post when back on PC

It's a shame the Sondheim Theatre doesn't have a LED marquee as it would have been very fitting to put one at the theatre named after him.

along with the shows listed above, do try to find the film he wrote with Anthony Perkins, The Last of Sheila, a suitably complicated and rich whodunnit, full of sexual permutations. The play, The Doctor is in (though I've probably got the name wrong and it did have another title as well) is worth a read - Like Sunday and Into the woods, it has an end of Act one that makes you wonder 'where now?'

Just going past the Sondheim theatre and they seem to have a desk and book of remembrance for people to sign next to a framed photograph of Stephen just opposite the booking office. Two blokes Manning the table it seems. They also now have large screen facing out which shows posters of his shows plus a picture of him and Cameron! There are also a couple of floral tributes on the pavement underneath the screen.

Thank you alec10 for posting this.
Alas a dental appointment prevented me from going in tonight.
I will however endeavour to get down there to sign the book of condolence.

It'd be interesting to know as well when they take the book away, as I assume at some point in the evening (e.g. when punters arrive for Miz) it won't be possible to sign.

I think for a lot of us this will be one of those moments where you know exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard. Very much this. I was on a Thames Clipper boat down the river after seeing Steps at the O2, absolutely bursting for the loo. The ridiculousness of the situation, and of the light hearted, fun evening I'd just had seemed so at odds with the sadness of the news.

Oscar Hammerstein works (with Rodgers) to redefine what's possible in a musical with "Carousel" ...
Inspiring Stephen Sondheim to follow suit with his musicals (I'm thinking of "Pacific Overtures" here, but pick your own!) ...
Inspiring Lin-Manuel Miranda to write "Hamilton" ...
So, who's next?

As can be seen in the above photographs, the blood of condolence is inside the foyer of the theatre itself. The floral tribute is outside.
I was able to ask the man there a couple of questions,
The doors to sign the book of condolence will be open from 10am -6pm, Monday-Friday.
As can be seen in the second photograph, there is a large television screen inside the foyer but facing out, so it can be see from the street projecting image from his shows and of Stephen Sondheim.
The man explained that because it had happened all so quickly- the announcement of his passing and the setting up of the book of condolence, that the information he has was limited.
He said that the book would remain as long as there was a demand.
He explained there had been a steady flow of people- there were some girls before me and two guys after me.
He also said the floral tribute seemed to happen instantly.
