Yes I understand that. It’s a leap for those people who were abused with the word though.

I have become more used to queer as a word not being used to attack me. But I would not use it to describe myself.
I also don't identify as a member of the LGBT+ community. I do not believe such a thing exists. I know it is seen by many as a useful umbrella term but it does not properly reflect the differences that very clearly exist between the many diverse communities that it seeks to represent.
I am a gay man. It took a long time to live fully openly with that. My coming out process began when I was 19 and not fully completed until 30 years later.
That is who I am. It isn't how I identify. It is who I am.
I know that sort of thinking goes against the new orthodoxy. But I have always been a contrary sort of person so am happy to tread my own path.

Thanks for the feedback on that I wouldn't use queer to describe a gay man as it has the nasty meanings and is also getting into that sexuality not being considered normal and the state of mind territory. When it is used in things like Queerfest I'd happily refer to it in that meaning as it is used to advertise an LGBT event.

Discounts currently available on TodayTix. Was waiting to see if they were going to offer rush tickets but I presume not seeing as the first performance is tonight and they aren’t offering them. But managed to get fairly decent seats with a 40% discount for next week.

I don't like it. It's like a pink highlighter pen on an unlit bonfire.

This entire production is just...bizarre.
There are bits of it I liked, but there's a lot of it I hated.
Whoever designed the costumes should be sacked because Courtney needs an entirely new wardrobe.
The set is one of the ugliest things I've seen, but I understood what they were going for.
I just think Lucy Moss's concept doesn't work. Moving it's setting to now, and including Instagram and the like is just not right for this show. It's such brilliant material that it doesn't need changing and there were too many lyric changes for me. It just needed to be done pretty faithfully, with nothing too drastic around it and they'd have a winner.
None of it can be fixed though because it all fits into the 'concept' - and don't get me started on the dogs...

Going tomorrow and very curious.... I saw the "original" production 16 times across Broadway, West End and UK Tour and this looks drastically different.

A friend went tonight. Theatre professional who has a nice word to say about everything. They stayed... for the first half at least!
This sounds like an absolute disaster. People dressed as dogs smelling each other's bums?!
Needs more input from those who have been please in the coming days and weeks.
This is sounding like it might go down as one of the worst productions ever.

I’m intrigued by the comments about the opening show tonight. It could be one of those shows that’s so bad it’s good, if you know what I mean? I’m not sure whether to risk the time, money and energy to find out myself.
It’s a shame as the London production and uk tour both really delivered. I.e. you got what you expected, which I think is a key part of any musical based on a cult film. (pretty woman take note - back to the future, bravo!)

It's not so bad it's good.
Diana is so bad it's good.
Legally Blonde is a great musical, and has had several productions which prove that.
This production is a total misfire.

Legally Blonde is a decent show though. Thinking back to Behind the Iron Mask and Too Close to the Sun, half the fun was the ridiculous lyrics and awful songs the poor actors were forced to sing. In this show we know it isn't the case. It's not my favourite, probably wouldn't make my top 100, but the show itself is fine and quite fun. Really makes me tempted to go and see this. I much prefer the great and the terrible to the average.

All the theatre bloggers who love everything will give it 5 stars... because Legally Blonde. Anyone who doesn’t like it will be accused of not moving with the times. Can anyone enlighten on the lyrics changes, the dogs, Gay or European? I’m assuming the creators would’ve signed off on each one.
