MJT believes that they're waiting for Mean Girls to close (whenever that happens) to move into the Savoy...? I dont think they need the Savoy specifically, there are plenty mid-size houses that would be better fits (seeing what happened at the Wintergarden in NYC) He also mentioned the Adelphi, which seems more likely? He suggested that Some Like It Hot may be waiting for The Savoy.

It would fit nicely at the Gilly after Totoro.

The new Olympia Theatre might be an option for Beetlejuice. The Savoy gets suggested a lot but it's not great for many shows, the stage and wing space is too small for many musicals. The GL likewise is not a first choice venue for musicals either.

This show needs a mid-sized house with really decent wing space. It's a hard show to place and despite having a very very very loyal fandom has trouble staying above water. It's a great spectacle and lots of fun though. Hopefully the movie returning the franchise to public discourse will help it out.

The GL has a good feel for it, but the sightlines on the sides would be difficult for such an elaborate set that is a character in itself (and hopefully the team would take that in to account!)

Olympia would probably location wise be inconvenient. Not a big enough draw, I don't think... but size-wise I see it.
I agree with the Adelphi or GL really, I get the GL sightlines with the house moving backwards and elements blocking view to the back (if they're even going to be retained) if they just plopped it down there it'd be awful for literally anyone not in the middle.
I do wonder what kind of concessions would be made for set sizes and details. Anywhere is going to be a slight downscale anyways, and I bet they'd want to cut costs. I'd love for the house to still be on a track but that's always been the first thing that's been cut in replica versions, I think Korea did away with it.

please not at the savoy, it’s possibly my least favourite theatre in the WE.
I see nearly everything through rush/offers/lotteries/seat fillers and there are quite a few seats in there with very poor/restricted views.
It’s so unbearably hot everywhere but the stalls. I don’t like the foyers, the staff are funny about letting you go to another level if they have run out of merch in that area, I could go on….
But I have everything crossed that Beetlejuice makes it way to the west end, I do think it could do well but its a shame they couldn’t tie it in with the release of the new film.

Well we're due to the get the Adelphi back in 2025 (at last) so that's an option.

I mean I take no notice on when it's booking til (just seen it's July) but fairly sure I was told April - could be wrong but I'm reasonably confident it's about going to run it's course soon.

Some of these replies are hilarious. Clearly many have no idea about how big (or rather , small) any of these theatre actually are.
Maybe Beetlejuice could go to the Duchess or Harold Pinter?

I think all three I wouldn't mind which one but being realistic, Paddington will literally trump everything else by name recognition. Whether or not producers will put it there is another thing I guess.

Paddington turned down Drury Lane. They want the Adelphi , and I would say it’s pretty likely they’d have first refusal on it.

Would be a good year for Luke Sheppard then if Paddington is gunning for the Adelphi. A family show will always trump a show will any kind of targeted audience lol
Though if Paddington already has set dates behind the scenes, surely it's already booked in? Or is it still looking?

My apologies again for not doubling checking

Tonight's Strictly results had a Beetlejuice dance routine with music from the musical spliced in which suddenly awoke me from a catatonic state in front of the TV so now I'm taking a break from the Sunset to listen to the cast recording again... wishing and wishing again and again this will come eventually!
