I'd be grateful for some advice about the Lowry, please, as I'd like to book to see a touring production there and have only previously visited the gallery. I can't find any info on the Lowry site re how many spaces they have but the play I want to see is in the Quays Theatre - presumably it's the smaller of 2 spaces? And any advice about which level to book for would also be appreciated. Thank you - I'm sure there are locals and regular visitors here who can help.

Yes, it's the smaller of the two Lowry theatres. Still over 400 seats though. I'm convinced they had some building materials left over and decided to add an extra auditorium round the back. It's about a half a mile walk from the main entrance and box office! Similar in design to the Dorfman, or the Courtyard Theatre at Leeds Playhouse. What do you normally look for in a theatre seat, showgirl? |

Go for stalls. Many (possibly all) of the seats on the tiers are actually stools. They raise you up for the view but are (for me) really uncomfortable. Anywhere in the stalls (not “stalls tier” is fine.
