Yesterday I booked a matinee of Cabaret when I am up for HMS Pinafore at the ENO and wondered what other odd two show days people have had. Amelie and Hamilton was quite a contrast too!

Goldilocks panto at the Palladium followed by Fairview at the Young Vic. What a contrast.
My best one though, was Phantom Matinee and Love Never Dies evening, the first Saturday that LND was playing.

Pre-covid I used to have frequent discordant show combinations, as I'd often see a West End show (often Mischief) in the afternoon before opera in the evening. My very last two-show day in London, on 14th March 2020, was The Comedy About A Bank Robbery followed by La Traviata.

People, Places and Things followed by The Toxic Avenger. Not quite as extreme opposites as this, but I saw People, Places and Things followed by Funny Girl

A few years back but I saw Ed Harris in Buried Child at Trafalgar Studios, followed by Harry Enfield in Once In A Lifetime at the Young Vic: neither of them were great to be honest.

Romeo & Juliet at the Globe followed by Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat last week. Both wonderful shows, but VERY different I loved the stark contrast though! Needed a pick-me up after the dramatic interpretation of this production of Romeo & Juliet

Early 90’s:
Matinee - Starlight Express @ Apollo Victoria Evening - Joseph @ Palladium
Not an odd pairing at all, in fact a perfect combination for a fun and happy day.
I’m only mentioning it because I miss those times so much 😭
