Do the producers not like Adam? Rumba in week 3 is unfair on any dancer Alesha Dixon did it very competently in week 1! Saying it's unfair is just a lazy excuse for a bad dancer. They have to deal with what they are given. You could equally say others were stitched up by their outfits...

I can't warm to Giovanni. Something seems off about him to me each year. Maybe it's just me but the last couple of years there has been this air that he doesn't feel comfortable with his partner somehow. I'm the opposite - I've warmed to him this year for the first time ever. I think he's brilliant with Rose.

Best to do your rumba when you're one of 14, rather than one of three.
If AJ and Kai aren't married by the final, I'll eat my flat cap.
John and Johannes could well be lifting the glitter ball trophy in December.
Anton's switch to judging has been seamless. Does anyone really miss Bruno?
Ben Platt is the special guest on tonight's results show. He must have flown in specially, just for a three minute slot!

I think if 7 of them had done rumba, he'd have fitted in fine. He obviously didn't understand how to do the hip action, but he did some things quite nicely, but it was always going to score lower against other disciplines I think.
Couples' choice = free pass doesn't it?!

Wasn't it lovely that Rose and Giovanni's Titanic routine had simple unsung music and no whooping audience which begs the question is the hysterical cheering added to the soundtrack? It's amazing what difference the music and style of it makes to a performance.

I think the audience are consciously keeping quiet for her. I don't know if she is able to hear any of the music at all so they are trying to help, or whether they are doing it because she couldn't hear the wooping. Most of the audience signed clapping rather than actually clapping after her performance so it was noticeably quieter. What I really enjoyed about their performance was that there was very little messing around in their dance. They got into hold and stayed that way. I think this was so that she could follow him for the timing, but I really enjoyed it. I'm sick of so much faffing in the other dances, Len wouldn't have had it!

I agree with many others - lovely opening performance by the professionals. John and Johannes were well deserved being top of the leader board - what a dance! I don’t agree with Shirley saying that she was ignoring mistakes last night - previously she’s said that she deducts a mark for a mistake so needs to be consistent. Really enjoying Anton as a judge.

Clearly she's chosen to dodge some ballroom instead, which isn't a bad idea for Adam I think.

I think the pros get a bit of input, but not total control - AJ definitely didn’t want to do the samba with Saffron and implied they’d been thrown under the bus with it.

Fair result tonight but does anyone else think the two couples in the dance off were basically doing the same dance? I’m wondering if this style isn’t popular with the kids and grannies

No, it’s because Katie was dreadful & because Judi is a black comedian without much of a following. Judi will need to do increasingly showy crowd-pleasers to stay in & impress the judges with her attention to detail.

Adendum: Also Judi can’t dance in anything higher than an M&S Spring/Summer Footglove. x

I groan every time I see someone wearing trainers on Strictly. Dance shoes are specialist for a reason - the suede sole helps prevent injury and assists movement across the floor. You can get completely flat suede-soled shoes for people who can't wear heels, but really even a small heel is better than none as it impacts posture and a heel pushing weight forward is better.
