F*ck ME.
Just when casting starts to go stale they pull out some interesting punches! Whether they’ll do a great job or not almost seems irrelevant as this is some fascinating casting!

Very interested in seeing Marisha, has she done British before? Less interested in Billy, even though he’s obviously the ‘big’ casting here

As much as I'd love the Playhouse back, the fact that we're still getting decent casting 3 years later is alright. I like these two so maybe I'll see it from the cheapest seats. This production already took enough of my money when I sat at one the tables.

Are these two of the most inappropriately cast actors in this musicals history?
Sure they are talented, in their own way, and in the right roles, but THESE roles? Really?
Very pleased to be proven wrong but I shan’t be wasting my money on a revisit to see these two.
Too loud, too brash, and they will be fighting for riff-offs at every opportunity. Both of these roles require some level of delicacy that I don’t believe either of them possess in their rep.

I've always been BAFFLED by the praise for Marisha in Guys and Dolls, she was so bland and dead behind the eyes for me (and I just have no interest in Adelaide growling her way through the score) - How on earth did this casting even come about? Whose idea was this?

I agree on the casting being quite random but that's exactly the reason I want to see them. If they're good, I'll be pleased. If they're bad, it'll be delightful conversation

Whose idea was this? She was embarrassing. I'd never seen Guys and Dolls before, and her interpretation of the character - as written - made no sense to me.

I think it will just be camp as tits from both (which I am fully aware is not the point of Cabaret)!

Is Damon first cover Emcee now? I'd maybe try to catch him with Marisha as you couldn't pay me to see Billy Porter.

As others have said, they're both very talented in their specific ways, but I cannot understand how they're remotely suited to this production based on all the performances we've seen them give in the past.
Lengthy runs in the parts as well - I can't see them setting the box office alight either, but then you could say that for basically all pairings that has been in for the past year since Self Esteem and Jake Shears.

I think on paper it's quite exciting casting, but knowing the show, it feels all too apparent that Frecknall isn't interested in the show at all anymore. But then again, putting your narrator to the sidelines maybe confirmed that from the get-go.

In Marisha's defence, she's doing 7 shows a week as all Sally's have since Amy Lennox left, and there's one additional Monday and Tuesday she's missing - it just looks like a lot because of the way it's written out, but it's one show a week for 16 weeks and an additional 2 holiday dates.

I think we know your issue with them…….. That’s a shame Oh, do WE?! Well you'd be wrong. That's on you. I think she's a great entertainer, but not much of an actor. As many people are agreeing on here. And Billy Porter is, well, just Billy Porter. Oh I agree, she’s no actor. Twice I’ve seen her, once during a Waitress matinee where I put her lack of acting down to it being a matinee. Then I saw her in Hairspray on a Saturday night quite early in the run and it was the same. But that aside, the girl can SING. And I’m fascinated to see what she does with the role.

At least she’ll be singing it and not croaking out some odd interpretation for the “Sally isn’t supposed to be a good singer” crowd. Presumably.
