Don't think either of them are big enough names. If we aren't going Glenn, and it would somehow still happen without her, I vote Zeta-Jones. She feels the most natural fit. Completely agree on Zeta-Jones she would be great. Does she not get offers or is she just selective? Loved her since Darling Buds of May days. Since being diagnosed bipolar about a decade ago, she seems more focused on her health than her work which is understandable. So I imagine she's just more selective these days x

So I imagine she's just more selective these days x She was lovely in Dad's Army a few years back. Anonymous little part, and it could've been any competent actor, but you need to see this woman in the flesh to sense her beauty and star power. I've never felt anything like it, and I've met and worked with some big names. She looks airbrushed in the flesh, but has a real Norma "this is a star" feel. Edit: not that she wasn't thoroughly charming to talk to!

CZJ is doing a guest arc on Prodigal Son in the US opposite Martin Sheen. Someone mentioned James Marsden before and he would do well. I just do not see Zach or Jeremy. Actually, if I am honest, I do not see an audience for this anymore. I do not see the need to remake it.

How anyone can suggest CZJ after her disastrous performance in A little night music is beyond me. No. Just no.

Im mystified as to why so many think she’d be a good choice. It’s nearly 20 years since Chicago. Yes she was great in it but she’s done nothing of note since. She’s not box office, and I suspect that’s the reason why she’s selling coffee and her own line of homewares tat on QVC. She just won a Tony Award for A Little Night Music in 2010. No biggie lol

She was in a category with seasoned Broadway actresses. In the 63rd Tony Awards Alice Ripley won in a category with Alison Janey and Stockard Channing so I think your hypothesis is misguided.

What about Toni Collette? I’d love Zeta-Jones (if Patti ain’t free ) But I can see Vanessa Williams, those eyes would be a perfect fit for Norma.

Elaine looks absolutely unhinged in that fabulous leopard print.

Jake Gyllenhaal is a good shout for Joe. He's a big name who can actually sing. If I remember correctly Ewan McGregor's name was bandied about the last time that a film of Sunset was mentioned, but maybe he's a bit too old now for Joe.

Very sad - that print in the bottom corner is hanging in my living room! Loved his designs for this show.

Very sad news. He was a fabulous designer. He also designed the glorious costumes for the National Anything Goes.
And Death on the Nile
And 101 Dalmations. Iconic costumes all of them.

Spotify has just reminded me of another casting option for Joe (apologies in advance if anyone's already mentioned him) - Luke Evans? He's a name after Beauty & The Beast, he's the right age and he's got the pipes for it. His recent album is really good.

Funnily enough some of my non musical interested mates know him from some American TV show (Super Woman?). Anyway, he does have a fantastic voice. Think he's a bit too alpha male for Joe. Although on stage they have gone with that many times (Barrowman/the LA guy etc). I see Joe more in the way Kevin Anderson did it. Quiet, brooding, easily led..... Ah yes, I forgot he was in Supergirl. And Smash of course. I reckon Jeremy could do quiet and brooding. He loves a cardigan, after all. And as for easily led...well, don't tempt me 😂 he's too young to play opposite Glenn though. We're gonna need a hot guy in his 40s. Which brings us back to the Jake/Bradley Cooper/James Marsden type. All of whom I would happily spend 2 hours with. Joe have to be aged up to mid 40's, if Glenn is going to playing the role. It's just icky otherwise.

Just throwing out another Norma option..... Christine Baranski. I'm watching her performance in Mame (from over 15 years ago, admittedly) but she screams 'star' and she can sing. I think she'd put a really interesting spin on it.

I’ll admit I can’t see her as Norma but it’s probably just aesthetically, like I don’t see Norma as fair or tall/skinny. That’s probably terrible to say but it’s the image in my head but am totally open.
