It would make sense, but the lack of communication is unforgivable. If they hadn't booked the dates at all, I might have chosen to go to Newcastle instead - but me and my short Mum are not going to sit at the back or side when we had front row centre circle for Sunderland!

Turbans and toplessness according to the production photos released on WhatsOnStage. Anthony Powell has kinda cursed this show. Unless someone remarkable comes along (with a massive budget) all future productions will look just a little bit cheap, purely based on the costumes!

The shows look like a version of the ENO production with a bit cheaper costumes. And Adam Pearce as Max looks bad! I have seen him a bunch of things and he is always fine but he tends to steal focus when he is in the ensemble. Good use of Turbans though I know Burly will be pleased

Ria's makeup looks very, erm. Bold.
I'm unfamiliar with the show, is that a conscious choice that befits Norma's character?

It's normally quite a heavy slap, applied in classic 30's silent movie style. Looks like Ria has taken a more modern approach. And they've gone with the ginger wig from the ENO production.

The Curve have added 35 production shots to their facebook page, more than are whats in the wos article.
Normas costumes and make up are awful and so cheap looking. they really appear to be going the drag queen route (although the return to paramount outfit is great). danny looks great in all costumes. his car in the car chase looks a bit naff, like a go cart but it may work better in reality. The paramount car doesnt look so bad from what you see, but is mostly hidden in the pic to be fair
Im beginning to think this is a show that can't be done on the cheap and smaller scale.

I’ve just looks at the pics, so it seems they’re sticking with what I saw.
🙄
This really isn’t helping itself at all, it looks cheap as it is, not a criticism of the show as such, I just don’t think you can stage it cheaply.

Very smart putting the pcitures of Danny in his pants at the end of the pictures so you have to scroll down to the bottom or through all the others to get to the best part!

The first tour with faith brown I remember was a pretty budget set lots of curtains and staircase wheeled around .... this set look pretty similar in style to ENO which I loved ... the original was just amazing we will never see thevlike again sadly .... as ENO showed you don't always need all belks and whistles to look fab and convey all you need But does look like the. Costume budget was more primani than Armani sadly .... and really let's the production down While searching for pics on google the other day ... gothernberg production came up quite liked that set .... even the CRH version with Katherine evens who blew everyone away I may add had better costumes .... I love this show one of my all time faves it deserves a proper outing ..... " I am big it's the budget that got small " !!!

So I just saw that they have added dates - so I guess that ends the speculation that the tour is ending early (which would be really odd since it hasn't even opened yet) But - what was strange to me - they have the tour playing in London in April, for a week? Can that be right? I mean - if they're going to do a stop over in London, wouldn't that kind of demand at least a three or four week run

Is Betty hot? Need to balance out the objectifying here with some classic hetero chauvinism.

Oooooh, I love Danny's go-kart. Although aren't you supposed to wear a helmet when driving those things?
There's also a touch of the Jodie Prenger about Ria Jones in costume. Having said that, Jodie would be fab if Ria pulls out.
"Ay up Hog-eye love, get t'spotlight on me quick smart. It's me big number!"

Most large Uk tours play Wimbledon and normally only for a week. Two at best.

I saw the show last night and loved it for the most part. The four leads are smashing and the orchestra plays like a dream. The set worked and I didn't mind the car which has a come in for some derision. A couple of reservations: I hated every one of Norma's costumes - They are extremely unflattering and look very cheap. It's a real shame as the rest of the costumes are absolutely fine. I also has a bit of an issue with the casting of some ensemble roles. There didn't appear to be anyone in the cast older than 40. At the very least Hog-eye and Jonesy are meant to have worked with Norma when she was at the height of her fame. It made no sense having the roles played by very pretty guys in their 20's.Cecil B DeMille was also played by a guy about 20yrs too young. His line about being old enough to be Norma's father was tweaked but it still didn't quite work. Ironic that this is a show essentially about older folk being pushed aside for new talent..
