Anyone have inside info if a cast recording is coming/happened? A lot of their social content was shot in a recording studio which is an odd choice for just a few one-off YouTube vids Looking highly unlikely unfortunately, especially with the very recent re-release/remaster of the original album. If/when the eventual transfer happens, then maybe!!

I can't remember exactly what she said, but something in one of Caissie Levy's Instagram stories a few weeks back suggested that a cast recording isn't currently on the cards. I'm hoping that they'll at least release the audios from the promotional videos as a 'selections from' album

None of the songs performed on the instagrams are using the full band and are just stripped back acoustic covers.

Finally saw this tonight and truly what a life changing show. I’ll write more of a review later when my thoughts are more gathered but for now all I’ll say is that those Oliviers should’ve been Caissie, Eleanor and Jack W’s and the fact that Jamie Parker wasn’t even nominated is something I’ll go to my grave complaining about. Jack Wolfe’s voice is nothing short of ridiculously wonderful and if we don’t get his voice on a cast recording for this I hope we do for something else soon.

Or, potenitally, a trailer for a potential broadway transfer? I don't think they would tease a trailer like that, no?

Quite possibly not; but I'm just theorising too. It may be they do an (unreleased) pro-shot with snippets for the trailer? I am very excited of the idea of a pro-shot but just putting ideas out there. That's all!
Edit: they may also let people know so that those who dont wanna be part of the filming knew for reference and possibly change dates or seats etc.

Wow this is out of the blue. Is the Broadway transfer still on the table?

Great to have Jack Wolfe's performance preserved, his voice was unbelievable live.

I'm there tonight - glad to be going again, and delighted that this fantastic cast and production will be preserved for future viewing!

Lizzy on as Natalie again tonight. I wonder if she’ll be off until Monday now so that she’s fully recovered for the dates being filmed. Very much hoping we will see a live cast recording on the back of this announcement. I originally thought we might have been getting a studio recording but understand it’s hugely costly and what with the remastered broadway version out recently it looked less likely - but now a live version makes sense. I do hope to have the chance to keep listening to these wondrous performances for years to come - I do prefer them (on the whole) to the broadway cast.

I do hope they put a cast recording out, whether live or studio. I've been going back to the original Broadway recording on Spotify since my visit, and I'm afraid Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit just aren't doing it for me.

Live cast recording I think will be great for this. It needs that audience resonance I think gives a humanity to this. The OBC remix is really great though. A genius decision to mix as if it's like a concept album because before it sounded pretty dull and like every 2000's blown out cast recording with the aggressive reverb and pretty thin drums.
Seriously, go listen to the old version... it sounds incredibly thin in comparison!

I agree, despite not loving Alice Ripley, it's become instantly a lot more listenable.
I am still not holding out much hope for a cast recording (audios having to make do...) but delighted to hear about the filming, hopefully something fun comes of that.
Very tempted to try and fit in one more visit to see this before it finishes, either way.

A live cast recording for a show like this doesn't really add much though, because in act 1 there's only 4 applause point (Who's Crazy, I Miss The Mountains, I'm Alive and Light In The Dark) and then act 2 there literally isn't a single applause point to the end.
I'd rather a properly mastered studio recording personally.

I agree, I prefer studio recordings. But with a show like this I just like hearing all the audience laughter and reactions (and stunned silence, vitally). I do say live recording with this because I don't think a studio recording is on the cards, but them making an album off the sound of the proshot sounds likely. With the proper mixing and mastering a live cast recording can sound as good as a studio one.
The sound at this sounds great already so I suspect they use proper quality equipment that can be recorded and then mixed easily.
