I think Jenna R is an incredibly brilliant actress, but why is everyone rushing to cast her in roles that she simply cannot sing. It’s a pretty damning indication of how few leading ladies we have. Or ones that are given the chance to rise up to leading roles.

I personally think she could sing this beautifully. It would certainly be a different style to Alice Ripley though. And, as you say, she would act the heck out of it

I don’t think Liisi LF is very good, based on her not being any good in Dreamgirls (in my opinion). So your judgement is pretty wrong on my comment about seeing GOOD people get bigger roles.

I have to agree with others and think that Jenna would act her face off but would struggle vocally with it. I saw her concert last December and whilst it was great to hear her sing her greatest hits, the top end of her voice was in...super shape

Without getting too deep into it, a lot of young women have come out about inappropriate relationships they had with Ripley as children during the show's run. There wasn't anything sexual about them (except for seemingly one minor instance where they had a conversation about a picture of Ripley in lingerie), it was all just very personal and intense relationships with children where she would invite them to her dressing room alone or have dinner with them. She'd form these close bonds but then drop them later on. She obviously had quite a profound affect on these already vulnerable children (they seemingly all connected with Alice due to her playing a character dealing with mental health issues) and then didn't handle the situation well by any stretch of the imagination. Nothing illegal but definitely inappropriate.

I personally found it pretty distasteful for some big broadway names to come out and say they didn't know her but she was innocent. Adam Pascal did a particularly triggering post, which I think he later deleted.

Yes. The Spanish article on Broadway World Spain says the production will be in English.

I saw the Spanish version, Casi Normales, in Madrid in 2017 and thought it was brilliant. The producer who devised this new idea is Pablo del Campo, who produced that Spanish version, so I'll be interested to see this in Barcelona.

Additional: they still won't release the amateur rights. Pathetic.
