Like the pandemic and Katie Rowley Jones’ second run in Wicked, the drag race content this year is never-ending...
Starts 1st of May, they haven’t confirmed where it’s gonna air in the UK but I’d guess it’s between iPlayer like Canada or WOW Presents Plus.

Hopefully it is better than recent US seasons.
We won't have long to wait for AS6 as that was filmed immediately after s13.

Well episode 2 was a doozy.
Big name elimination and some dreadful performances.
But some great runway looks.

So disappointed in Drag Race Down Under. Another week, another succession of pubic hair jokes and breast plates. I’d forgotten how misogynistic Aussie culture is. This show reminded me.

It’s certainly rather more basic, even than the U.K. version and that’s saying summat!

I had decided I wasn’t going to watch, but I just read the TomandLorenzo and Vulture recaps and OMG. I am going to watch.

I’m essentially hate watching this show at this point.
That was the worst ever episode of Drag Race I have ever seen.

That Shantay decision was bizarre.

It was the right call for me. It was a performance that honoured the song rather than being a series of drag queen standard moves.
The producers should have stepped in to stop most of those commercials being made...

That Shantay decision was bizarre. That’s so funny. I thought it was the only acceptable part of the show. I love it when someone actually performs the song rather than just flapping around doing death drops.

The producers should have stepped in to stop most of those commercials being made... I could not agree with you more about those commercials. When drag starts verging on misogyny, it’s no longer entertaining in any way and in my opinion, some of those commercials (aside from being woefully unfunny in general) definitely crossed the line. Of all the variations of Drag Race, I think this one is the weakest across the board and it looks to me like both Ru Paul and Michelle Visage know it. I think after tonight’s lamentable episode, I’ll be giving the rest of the series a miss. Hopefully the upcoming series of All Stars will restore the quality and fun of the Drag Race at its best.

Well, I think we're left with a rather underwhelming Top Four. I'm not really excited about the prospect of any of them taking the title, which is unusual for me when it comes to Drag Race. It's hard to imagine Karen or Scarlett taking the crown given their problematic back-stories around race. Art Simone would also be a controversial choice given she was reinstated for no reason. And that leaves Kita. Who is ... fine, but hardly a queen likely to set pulses racing.
Compared to the latest UK series and even the never-ending marathon that was the US series, this hasn't been a great start for the Down Under franchise. Will they bother doing it again, I wonder?

I went in expecting to love this season thinking it would be of a similar calibre to the UK seasons considering our similar senses of humour and banter but ended up bowing out after 3 episodes and I don't plan to go back. What a disappointment.

Agree - the entire series has been very underwhelming. And the 'talent' section has made me realise I would never pay money to see any of them in a show. Coupled with the worst snatch game in the history of the franchise, it's not been great. Perhaps Ru and 'Chelle just fancied a break in NZ?

So who do we think will win/ want to win?
I’ve been following Art Simone on Insta and he does make me smile. Funny how much older he looks in drag though.

Well we’ve got the racist who’s done really well, the one who won one challenge and then Roxxxy Andrews’ed (this is now a verb), the one who got eliminated in Episode 2 and Kita so for me Kita, but she’s kind of unremarkable too to be honest.
This season’s been a load of sh*t let’s be honest.

They can't let Scarlet win. The race thing is too big to overlook.
Karen has under performed
Art has failed to justify her return to the competition
That only leaves Kita.

I wonder if the backlash to Scarlet surprised them at all. It didn't feel like the narrative of the series was building to a win for Kita. I reckon they were going for a 'redemption arc' which would have seen Scarlet crowned: she'd certainly got the most impressive track record going into the funeral. Really felt like they were left with only one non-controversial option as the winner.
