My mum was incredulous at it. “I didn’t know any of them! That CAN’T be what you go to London for can it? I wouldn’t waste my money!” 😄 Did your mum mean she didn't know any of the musicals or the performers? If its the performers I can sort of understand as there were a lot of actors performing who are not that well known to the general public. However surely she knows Michael Ball, Amanda Holden and Sheridan Smith as they are on the TV box all the time. If it's the musicals, yes there were a few of the newer ones but you also had Wicked, Phantom, Hairspray, Mamma Mia and Joseph and I would have thought that most people would be even vaguely familiar with most of them. |

She’d know Michael Ball but that’s about it. Out of the shows she’d have heard of Phantom, possibly Joseph but the rest? Nah. When she thinks of musicals she’s in the Oklahoma, South Pacific, Carousel camp. She’s 89!

Saw this in the guide that it was on Beeb2 after the Four Dames and totally misread it as The Greatest Showman. It actually seems to be a concert of Showtunes hosted by Sheridan. I just started it from the beginning on iplayer and she opened with Dont Rain On My Parade and Ramin just did Music of the Night. Six next.
