Attending as hoping for some good news.
Hopefully will be able to use up some of my credit in the near future.

They could have distancing by ripping out some of the uncomfortable benches and putting in chairs... like the gentlemen’s boxes. I know, not possible or authentic.

And how uncomfortable they are..I wouldn't have believed it. Love everything about the globe, the history, the building, the museum...everything but being there and sitting on those benches. The most uncomfortable evening I ever spent at a theatre.

They are certainly talking about going out on tour in the summer as they have done in the past.
Outdoor theatre ftw

Well I don't think we know for sure if they are authentic or not. To me putting that fantastically uncomfortable seating in the SWP (benches and no backrest) was an idiotic idea, what exactly does anyone gain from that type of "authenticity" ? The prices they charge for them aren't authentic for a start. Absolutely the most uncomfortable theatre seating I've ever experienced was when NT did a touring version "Oh What A Lovely War !" which I saw in some sort of circus tent arrangement in Bernie Spain Gardens. They had very narrow wooden benches, no covering, with a vertical wooden panel at the back that meant you had to hunch forward, very little legroom to the seat panel in front, plus it was freezing cold. Much like sitting in the pews of an ancient church in the middle of winter. I was catastrophically uncomfortable even before it had started. It wasn't much good either, and very long.

The thread title is making me flinch slightly, can anyone fix it?

The most uncomfortable evening I ever spent at a theatre. I was mentally composing almost this exact post while waiting for the thread to load. I've found some suggestions that help, though (it might have been in this forum or on TripAdvisor): Book a place at the back of one of the sections (there will be a wall behind you) and on the aisle (you can eke out a little more leg/knee room). Get the seat cushion (although don't lean back if there's no wall behind you). Get the blanket (or two, and sit on one). I have a note for next time: "Also try Lower Gallery, Bay J, E39, because you have the aisle in front of you so have tons of leg room, and can also spread out a lot."

I sat at the back and had two seat cushins in the second half (from people who left at intermission). Didn't help much. Also the Globe has more performance problems for me, but that is just me. One of the least likely theatres I will visit in the future, very sad but fact.

Not the most comfortable but never really had an issue in either the Globe or Wanamaker and never buy a cushion. Have my preferred seats but apart from the gods in the Wanamaker would sit in most places with sight lines more of an issue than comfort.
I am of slight build and think nothing of sitting on an unpadded racing bike saddle for hours on end which could explain it.

One day in the future when you are 101 and just home from a bike ride of ninety miles or so, you will remember my complaints about the seating at the Wanamaker and smile...

Hate to admit it but not sure I could do anything but at least forward facing seating there any more, my back was iffy pre all this fun but a year of home working has done me no favours, I exist on daily ice packs and pills and pain gels, several hours sat all twisted up might just finish me off. Otherwise yes I'd have said sightlines over comfort.
