I was sure when I booked tickets for this (in December 2020!) it was billed as "in the round", so I booked tickets for stalls section K, which would be central when looking over the arena.
However, now that I look at the tickets on sale on the seating plan, the arena is filled with seating which must mean it's an end stage configuration and so I couldn't be further away.
So frustrating!

I was a bit confused about that myself, especially having never been there. I emailed about my ticket last year and was told that they’ll be using the main stage and also a stage that comes out into the arena area, so from the seating plan it appears they’re removing the front few rows and then having a long catwalk-type stage straight through the middle of the arena towards section K.
They’d probably move you further round if you wanted. They were really good when I needed to move my ticket, and even refunded the difference as it was a slightly cheaper seat.

There’s a quote about the original where a critic described it as “a humping, pumping, thumping fat hit.” Having seen this new version last night l’d say that’s still true all these years later. It may be because I’ve not seen it live before, only the two recordings, but I thought it was stunning. I don’t think he’s changed anything in particular, just the larger ensemble obviously means that there’s more people onstage.
As I expected, the stage extends forward into the audience and tapers in to a long catwalk through the centre of the arena section, so that it’s sort of Y shaped. Vast majority of it is played at the front though. Was quite lucky as my seat was where the main stage meets the catwalk, so not front row, but a completely unobstructed view and close enough to feel the air move from some of the kicks. Cast start appearing on stage about 15 minutes before the start. The musicians are tucked away above the diner and are out of sight until act 2.
I always like seeing the familiar faces from other New Adventures productions, but it was especially nice to see the cast headed by Will Bozier. He was the lead in the last tour of Swan Lake, which is what made me a Matthew Bourne fan, and he just proved how wasted he was on Cinderella.

The arena is flat so you may have someone in front of you blocking the view, though the stage is roughly shoulder height so maybe not. I’d say ask to move around to the side stalls if they’ll let you. There are four telephone/electricity poles dotted along the length of the walkway so if you’re directly opposite the main stage they might cause an obstruction.

I saw it tonight from Grand Tier, Box 21 (almost directly opposite the main stage) and those stupid poles blocked the front center section of the filled-in part of the 'Y'. I wasn't able to see the dancers' expressions at key points in much of Act 2, which was really annoying. I also found the video screens annoying, particularly the pre-filmed close-ups of the dancers' faces. The dancers do a fine job of conveying the emotion through their dancing, and the intense close-ups were cheesy enough to draw some giggles from the audience. Otherwise, it was terrific! The acting was excellent and the dancing was both athletic and elegant. This isn't necessarily a spoiler, but something I think people should know about the story, but some might consider it a spoiler so I'm hiding it... {Spoiler - click to view}the story is an amalgam of Carmen and The Postman Always Rings Twice. I didn't realize this and was a little confused with what I thought were plot twists/deviations. I came home and read reviews and realized why.

Really enjoyed this yesterday. Saw it years ago at the Old Vic and loved it. This production has more dancers to fill the much bigger stage.
This new production is excellent and the orchestra sounded great. I was in G area and the view was very good but you have a side view. Great value with a £25 offer though.
Alan Vincent plays Dino in this production. He was Luca in the original production which was recorded and shown in Channel 4. Available on YouTube, but the quality is not great

Thanks for the seating tips, all - I've moved a little further round into J, approaching K. So closer but not too side on.
In other news this seems to be selling really badly - even for the Saturday night!

It’s a shame it’s not selling well. Nutcracker! didn’t seem to do so great either at Sadlers Wells when it was on over Christmas and into the New Year. They’re unusually successful as a touring dance company but don’t seem to be selling too well in London ATM.

Saw this last night and enjoyed it but didn't love it as much as when I saw it at Sadler's Wells. Not sure it worked so well in such a big space (especially one with so many empty seats!). I feel like they should have completely reimagined it to stage it in the round - as someone mentioned earlier the runway was very much underused.

Glad I saw this but sadly as others have said it didn't live up to the hype and the previous theatre production worked better. Main positives were the superb orchestra, only ever seen new adventures touring productions where the music is prerecorded playback but the sound and quality was wonderful hearing it live. Fun also seeing Richard Windsor and the new adventures stalwart Dominic North playing the main male leads and more than keeping up with the ensemble who were likely half their age. As ever with NA shows the dancers love and enthusiasm for dancing shines through and everyone was giving their all. But as previous members have said it didn't add anything really being on the larger stage and seemed to actually lose some of the claustrophobic atmosphere the original has. Lovely seeing a large cast but it seemed that the town of Harmony had become overpopulated with young couples and often the stage was so crowded you lost the focus there was so much to view. By losing some of the previous theatre tightness it seemed at times padded out especially in the second act. The telegraph poles must have blocked views at times for the majority of the audience and must rank as one of the worst design ideas in a show for years especially they really didn't add anything to the production. Disappointing as the original promo seemed to offer a full in the round production but this was 90% standard front staging. In the programme Matthew Bourne does say they were looking first at a best off new adventures show with bits from all the back catalogue and that may have been more successful , hopefully as the show was a commission between the RAH and NA to celebrate the the RAH 150 years it has broken even at least. Matthew Bourne and new adventures have provided many stunning and inventive evenings for me and maybe was expecting this to take the car man to a new level.
