Has anyone ever checked in a cloak into a cloakroom? I got stuck in a cloakroom queue once behind some bloke called Joseph who claimed his cloak was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and.... |

So musical comedies are not usually my cup of tea, and unfortunately this did nothing to help change that view. From all the raves on here, the 5* reviews in the press, i was expecting something more. I booked this when the show was first announced with Megan Mullaly and wish i had seen her do it. Sutton Foster was OK, but i didnt get the star qualty everyone talks about. Maybe she did something different in the second half, but i didnt stay to find out. I left at the interval.
The book plays like a farce, but without pace it needs to make it work. Robert Lindasy was ok, but i feel like I've seen that performance before in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I liked Carly M Dyer and even Felicity Kendall made the most of what she had to do. The friend i went with laughed because i sighed too loudly at some shtick on stage, him knowing that it wasnt my thing. He wasn't bothered about going back for the 2nd half, because he'd already booked to go again in 10 days time.
I was hoping to love it much more, but it just reinforced my opinion about very old school musical comedies.
Also, there were very few people wearing masks in the audience, the person next to me took their's off when the show started. I'm wearing a mask to protect you, but if you don't give a sh*t about me, why should i care about you? I kept mine on anyway.

I booked the tickets when the show was first announced, and then he booked to take his mum to see it, when the reviews came out, because she likes Cole Porter music. He wasn't that enamoured with the production either though. At least he wont have had to sit through it all twice! |

Solid 4 stars from me. Yes, pure joy but I guess I like to be a bit more emotionally invested in a show. Whilst Sutton Foster was very good, I wasn’t really aware of her reputation before this show, though I think the hype has overtaken the performance. Loved Robert Lindsay’s comic timing and the cast’s superb dancing, great view from the front row.

Solid 4 stars from me as well, dance routines were amazing, i wasn't totally in love with Sutton's voice, nothing to do with the days performance i just wasn't that keen on videos I'd seen before either

Currently trying to get the attention of the box office (email only) as i have one to return for tomorrow's 2.30 matinee. If they don't respond by 6pm I'll see if anyone on here is interested in TWO £25 seats for tomorrow. They are up in the odds but they are at least the front row of the Gods  |

No answer came the loud reply from the Barbican box office.
If anyone wants these two tickets for tomorrowat 2.30, please drop me a message. They're in pdf format. I might even be at Borough Market so there could be a meet up option if that suits. Face value; £50 for the pair.

What an absolute joy! The perfect show to switch off to for a few hours.
I may be biased but I think Sutton is a beautiful performer, she’s just captivating and charismatic that you just can’t take your eyes off her. She just has this effortless way of commanding a stage and even knows where to nuance her performance to ensure maximum impact in the big numbers. Yup, a bit of a fan but so glad I’ve seen her live.
But the same can be said of the rest of the cast, there isn’t really a weak link. Carly, Felicity and Robert are all stand outs and beautifully play to the audience but without losing that polish which make this stunning production.
On a slight side note, the Barbican as a theatre is great. Not sure there’s a dodgy seat in the stalls at least and being slightly taller, I love the fact you don’t need to keep moving to let others in the row past!

I traded in the two tickets for one in the Stalls so unsure. I did wander down to the front at the interval to remind myself how different the Barbie is from ye olde West End-types - it's very different! The upper levels are so much closer to the stage.

I was in the balcony, front row, just off ctr, the view was better than i expected and would go up there again, you don't miss any of the show only the very top of the set, I took a pic of the stage before it started, I can send the pic if you want to DM me your email |

It would make commercial sense for the tour's leading lady, whoever she is to do the extension in The Barbican so she can be advertised as being direct from the sell out London run.

It’s highly unlikely - she wouldn’t come over to take over a role. Also she isn’t doing the tour. And anyway the tour isn’t happening immediately after now.

That would be a gag. I saw her in Shrek and I truly don't remember her being that bad. Listening to her music since though, her voice is so clearly modified within an inch of its life. The click track she used on BGT recently didn't even sound like it could come out her mouth. |
