Midweek in Edinburgh the upper levels aren't even on sale any more, a friend of mine booked and got an email back a week later saying they'd been upgraded to centre stalls.
It will be gone by the end of the Irish leg I reckon.

What a shame for all, if they were going to tour why did they show it for free?!

Saw some comments now on Liverpool Empire's Facebook - people had booked for Friday, but have been offered tomorrow or Saturday, Manchester or a refund. So it must not have sold enough tickets for tomorrow to warrant even opening the doors. I think shows aiming at an older audience away from London need to perhaps put in more midweek matinées instead of evening shows.

This is tragic and quite upsetting. Such a wonderful feelgood show. I really thought it would have done better than this. Such a shame.

So sad for the cast. I’m 21 and love the show but am probably in a minority there, I agree young people in general will not go to this type of show. If the tour does get pulled, do we think the whole London run will as well or will that still be able to go ahead?

If the tour does get pulled, do we think the whole London run will as well or will that still be able to go ahead? It'd be a lot trickier to pull the London run as it would leave the Barbican dark over the summer. The tour dates are only a week so it's easier to cut those.

Maybe some emergency star casting is in order? What’s Jane Krakowski doing?

Maybe some emergency star casting is in order? What’s Jane Krakowski doing? Kerry's not the issue - she's a good theatre name to have in the show. Emergency star cast Moonface and get someone that's actually funny (less bothered if they're a singer to be honest). Kerry, Bonnie, a name for Moonface and Simon Callow would be a good 4.

Is it just this show or are other tours suffering too? I've just seen a post that Da Vinci Code tour has been brought to a premature end.

Addams Family closing early also, so seems... a thing.

It's not that uncommon for tours to close early, producers might blame Covid but to me it's unappealing shows.

COVID is having an effect with older audiences who seem more reluctant to return to theatres unless there is something very special.
The Private Lives tour with Patricia Hodge sold very well in Oxford. So the right combination of cozy play choice and respected names can work.
I was one of those who doubted the wisdom of touring AG. I take no pleasure from the fact that my doubts are being realised. However audiences are booking even later than usual so I wouldn't be quite as concerned about poor sales for dates in June quite yet. People are waiting to see how they are feeling, local case numbers etc etc before committing to booking.
Allowing a TV broadcast in between the Barbican and the start of the tour does seem to have been a strategic mistake though. This coming Christmas would have made more sense. Particularly as it is up on iPlayer for you to watch even now.

I must get 10 emails a week with offers for venues in Greater Manchester. £10 off Strictly Come Dancing at The Lowry, 25% off Beryl at Oldham Coliseum, just £7 for the BBC Philharmonic at Bridgewater Hall and £22 for Singin' in the Rain. If I lived on the wrong side of the Pennines I'd be out every night!
Even Alan Partridge is struggling. With tickets now discounted to £15, it would seem that Steve Coogan isn't as popular in MCR as he once was.

Bonnie is on The One Show tonight so hopefully that might shift a few more tickets.

I think the way touring ticket prices have been creeping up to near-West End levels has been an issue for a while. The price difference last summer between Heathers at the Haymarket and at the Liverpool Empire was only £10.
Are casual theatregoers, people who may only go once in a blue moon, going to take a punt on unknown shows in the current climate if it’s going to cost at least £45 each, plus booking fees, for a half decent seat?
I hope they’re aren’t any Bonnie fans in tonight if she’s on The One Show. Could they not have got her on Zoom like half their other guests?

You’d barely notice her not being there tbh. Its neither a big nor particularly important role; there isn’t anything very Bonnie about her performance.

Everyone knows there will be offers so who is going to pay sixty quid now when you know nearer the time you could be paying much less.

The tour has already been pulled from the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, where it was scheduled from 25 May to 4 June, with the Dublin run apparently extended.
The Marlowe has a very good reputation and loyal audience. Of all the venues outside London I attend, it's the one that consistently comes closest to full houses certainly for musicals, yet rarely discounts other than for multiple show bookings. Never known a cancellation there before.

When Bonnie did 42nd Street she did loads of great promo for that. They performed for This Morning by the river, they performed outside BBC television centre, I remember a one show appearance where they filmed her running out afterwards to the car to whizz across London to the theatre plus there was another This Morning appearance where Bonnie and the ensemble girls tapped all corridors to the studio. All were memorable and lots of fun. No reason they can't do similar for Anything Goes.
The ensemble boys could be tapping around the Albert Dock, at the top of the Radio City Tower etc. It shows everyone what the show is about and is far more memorable than "I am in a show come along and see it". Especially when someone watching could think that looks good I will book to see it tomorrow. It isn't on tomorrow.

I've always been a bit disappointed with the anything goes number itself as i seems a bit formless. If you want a great beautifully constructed number with sailors, and much wit, catch the opening of Act Two of HMS Pinafore from ENO and showing on sky arts twice this weekend.
