How about when the conductor throws his baton, I wondered if that 4th wall moment was the same - when I saw it a couple of weeks ago that felt developed and in the end got a partial standing ovation? Wasn’t in when I saw it. The “West End” quip was. The “replacement” one wasn’t. The loose microphone was. Really in the text this is a small-scale musical comedy and the British cast are mostly playing it as such, but the show itself is bigger and brasher. There is some tension between the approaches.

Oh that's interesting. Fwiw, there was a 3-way, 4th wall section about 'isn't it great to be back' (Foster, Lindsay and the audience). The applause grew and it became quite a celebratory moment. It my have been more fleeting than I recall - the interaction, warmth all around, was rather lovely.

Wow what can I say, that was the greatest night of theatre I've ever had.
Sutton is absolutely incredible, such amazing talent!
I've never felt such joy at a show before and had goosebumps at the end of the 1st half, 3 ladies in my row were all in tears. I'm blown away by the whole experience, it was such a privilege to be there and witness it.
It's 2 days on now and I'm still trying to take it all in, I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

You might wanna lighten up a bit 😂

Do they still plan to film this? Last I heard they were talking about a mid-September filming, but not sure where that went

Saw it the week before last and thoroughly enjoyed it, as expected, glad to see Sutton Foster live, very much enjoyed Robert Lindsay's performance. Perfection, don't think anyone there didn't love it. 10/10

As Trafalgar is one of the producers of Anything Goes, I suspect a cinema screening will happen within a couple of months like it did with The King and I after the Palladium run.

Not sure how 42nd Street is related, but I guess The King and I is a fair comparison with the same producers. I wonder if this limited season was planned just to film it

I was in London last week and passed up an opportunity to see Anything Goes, as I saw it 10 years ago with Sutton, but thought that they would film it and that may be part of the reason she agreed to do it. I know part of the reason was to help out a friend in need. Are you 100% sure it won't be filmed.

I mean the comment about it being staged in order to film it was highly unlikely. That makes no sense at all.

Does anyone know which nights are being filmed?
I was at the RSC once and they filmed 2 shows in case of technical issues so I'm guessing the same might apply.

To clear this one up before sh*t hits the Fan: it definitely isn't SJB taking over from SF.

I guess you were there tonight BB as was I and it totally lived up to expectations. Sutton is a goddess to my eyes and ears. Only 42nd Street edges this into second place in my all time favourite shows.
