Must admit I lurk as opposed to post here but this intrigued me and Sutton got me to pull the trigger. Absolutely the best night I have ever spent in a theatre, the atmosphere, the cast, the songs, the dancing was just spot on. Sutton is the definition of triple threat and the applause she got just from walking on was as if she was a rock star. I think this is a case of the perfect show at the perfect time with the perfect leading lady giving me an experience I will never forget. I was shaking at what I had seen in the interval. I am never usually lost for words but this one got me, I am shocked at how much so. The cheering and ovations very much earnt and deserved. I will most definitely be back. Random side note, nice to see Nikki Bentley in the audience too. Now order will resume and I will go back to lurking

Home now! The rest of the show delivered.
By long, I meant it would be a long show tonight, which it was, ending just before 10:20pm (the advertised run time was 2 hours and 25 minutes).
Now, some time will be shaved off, but it didn't start particularly late or have a stretched interval. There were no speeches at the end. There were the three standing ovations and lots of cheering.
I do hope this show has a good lifespan as well.
It is quite a slight show, but with lots of funny lines and in fantastic shape for a first performance. I did see the tour a few years ago, but I don't remember it that well. I don't think it can compare with 42nd Street as there aren't that many big production numbers, but it is very watchable. The biggest number is Anything Goes just before the interval, with tap dancing sailors, and nothing else can really touch that. It is quite a small stage too, so getting so many people dancing on it is really impressive.
Sutton Foster is absolutely brilliant, but there were no weak links. Well done to George Beet too, who was on as a swing in the very first show and didn't look to put a step out of place. I presume he was covering Jack Wilcox's track.
There were a lot of actors, musical theatre types and students in the audience. I think I heard that superstar Luke Bayer was in there somewhere, but I didn't spot him. Quite a few young children too. Not sure what they made of it all, but there was a very active five (or so) year old dancing in the middle of the second row.
Very happy with my fifth row TodayTix seat too. Almost at the end of the row but a perfect view. I will definitely use that route to book again.
If you're attending this weekend, you're in for a treat!

I've waited 10 years to see this production. Ever since that legendary Tony Awards Performance, which I know every beat of, I desperately wanted to see this. And it didn't disappoint.
The show is brilliant in every way. It's superbly funny, with some of the biggest musical numbers in the canon, that we saw at their absolute fullest potential tonight. I'm not sure I'll ever forget the energy change as the first beats of the title number started and everyone KNEW what we were headed for. Moments like that are why I love theatre so much.
At the centre of this gem, is one of the best performances in years. I knew Sutton Foster would be good - Ive been an enormous fan of hers for years - but I wasn't prepared for how good. The way that woman performs is matched by very few. She just has star quality in abundance and it was exhilarating to watch. The cast are universally great - I loved Robert Lindsey and really enjoyed Felicity Kendal and Gary Wilmot. Sam Edwards is doing stellar work as Billy and Carly Mercedes Dyer has a brilliant scene stealing number towards the end.
As others have said, we were all on our feet before Sutton had hit the big note at the end of the title number, but the standing ovation for Blow Gabriel Blow stopped the show for a good two minutes. The definition of show stopping.
It's just theatrical heaven. It's going to be a massive hit, and I can't wait to see it again.

I agree with the others, this was a night to remember! Fantastic production, cohesive cast, fun-packed show with a passionate audience. So much talent that has been very well used...
The two big numbers are breathtaking, and I was particularly amazed with the three duets Sutton plays and how she connects with each actor and develops entire relationships in a couple of minutes. It's not only that she's a charismatic star and commands the show, she also knows how to share the stage by shining next to others.
It's delightful and, you guessed it, it's delicious!

Oh my I'm so excited now, but afraid it will fall victim to covid before I get to see it. Any chance it can carry on in spite of isolation rule? The cast is pretty big I think

does Ms Kendal have the chance to make much of an impression with such a small part. Has she got a puppet dog or a real one?

She has a toy dog and she makes the most of the tiny role she has. She also looks glorious in the costumes.
Cannot overstate how gorgeous they all are. It looks like they’ve spent a fortune on the whole production. It’s a shame it’s not going to have an open run in the west end. Would love to see it at the Prince Edward- would be the perfect venue for it.

I was fortunate to get a rush ticket for tonight - can't wait! - as I can't attend my original date of Wednesday 28 July.
As a result I am giving away my single seat BB1 for Weds 28 to whoever would like it.
Ideally I would like it to go to somebody who might otherwise be unable to see the show.

The cast is pretty big I think That would be my biggest concern. COVID-19 awareness in the venue was not good. No audience checks of any kind and mask wearers were in the minority (at least in the seats near me). A lot of the audience last night were going on to Heaven yesterday to celebrate their freedom.

I was actually appalled at how few people were wearing masks. It made me feel very uncomfortable I must say. I reckon 40-50% weren’t wearing them. And mainly the older people too. Oh to be so blasé about it.
I think the venue are being incredibly irresponsible allowing this.

COVID-allowing, I’ll be seeing this on Friday and hearing all these amazing things has me so excited! Praying it doesn’t have to close for COVID protocols.
Will be my first theatre experience in over a year and a half!!

I went to a concert at the Barbican last week and the checks going into the Barbican centre weren't great, sounds as if they haven't got any better.

Is this by any chance a matinee ticket? I’m up in County Durham and desparate to see this show but train tickets and theatre ticket is just so expensive, even when coming on my own which I’m happy to do. Can only ever do matinees though because I can’t ever stay overnight.

I agree, the curtain call video that I saw that swooped over the whole audience did scare me a bit, it looked like more than 40-50% without masks but I will trust your judgement as you were there. I guess I just have to hope that being in the front row at least I am not completely surrounded by non-mask wearing audience members. I really hope it doesn't make me feel so uncomfortable I am unable to enjoy it, fingers crossed for tonight, really don't want to get covid.

There were a lot more people wearing masks than not wearing them where I was sitting which was comforting but still too many not - I just don't understand why people won't! (I know some can't but not everyone who wasn't was exempt...)

In the Stalls around me, I'd say 70% not wearing, 30% wearing. Maybe slightly more wearing, if you include the people wearing them around their chin or who liked to wear them occasionally before taking a break.
Rush Tickets, they go very quickly but from what I've seen all over. I got fifth row side Stalls yesterday for a single seat, but single seats are often decent as they try and fill the gaps up.
