Streaming now on bbc3... It’s ‘aboot‘ to get real...
The format is pretty much the same but the judging is much more collaborative. Brook Lynn does not take a star role, presumably blocked from any chance of usurping Rupaul who makes her presence known at one point.
The drag is a quite panto and actually feels a lot more traditionally british than Drag Race UK.
Judge Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman is very handsome ☺️
worth checking out!

I didn't like the lack of a lead judge - having the guest do some of the presenting didn't work for me. I think one lead voice with supporting judges works better for the format. If they wanted to make this shift, they should have changed the script more to avoid comparisons.
Other than Kyne, I like the queens - though I think Ilona will get very tiring very quickly.
We are somewhat overloaded with drag this year - spreading things out would have made more sense (particularly if new seasons are going to be delayed)

Enjoyed this weeks show. Evergreen favourite match the pit crew’s underwear for the mini challenge and a good old trash to runway sewing/glueing maxi. I’m starting to remember their names now, can’t decide if Jimbo is good or absolutely appalling. Priyanka seems like one to watch, maybe Lemon too. Interesting to see what is an apparently celebrated queen going out this week, I wonder if this is why we don’t see a lot of the more established drag artists competing in the show.
Great turn by guest judge Biddell, professional tv presenter skills or what? I really like the shared presenting and judging.

Jimbo reminds me too much of Grayson Perry...
I will be delighted when Ilona finally goes. I don't want attention-seeking behaviour on that level from anyone. She is immature and not talented enough to get away with it. So fake and just plain annoying.

Personally I think this is without a doubt the absolute worst version of Drag Race in existence. I find it completely unwatchable.
I could go on and on about how dire it is, but instead I will be positive and HIGHLY recommend Drag Race Thailand which is by far the best franchise out of the lot.
Fantastic and credible hosts and judges. Talented, loveable and hilarious contestants. Great challenges. They actually CREATE their own looks instead of bringing designer outfits from home. No fraudulent emotions and drama for screen time. Fantastic runways and phenomenal lip-synchs where they actually play the whole song instead of a minute of it so they can cram in more branding and drama.
The emotional moments are very genuine and it has a real sense of excitement about it that the US series has been lacking for a very long time since everything became a tired cliched brand.
Sure the constant screaming gets a little annoying, but beyond that it is a total breath of fresh air in an otherwise horrendously dated format.
The Finales are also phenomenal and very different to the other versions.
Here's hoping for a Season 3!

I am sort of intrigued about what you hate so much about it. It reminds me of DRUK in the scrabbliness of it.

I am sort of intrigued about what you hate so much about it. It reminds me of DRUK in the scrabbliness of it. My main problem is I cannot stand any of the judging panel. I disliked Brooke immensely on her season and I don't find any of them even remotely credible. I think they're all extremely fake and unlikeable, much like the contestants. I didn't mind Jimbo up to this point, but even he annoyed me this week. I find them all obnoxious and annoying with massively inflated egos x I liked UK despite it being slightly lower rent and Ru and Michelle actually seemed to be enjoying themselves and were on good form. The guest judges were great too. Some of the contestants were annoying, but for the most part they were a likeable bunch.

That had some of the best Snatch Game moments in recent years. Lemon, Rita and Jimbo were on top form I agree. I have no idea who Jo Jo Siwa is, but Lemon was so good, it didn’t matter. I’m wracking my brains if Joan Rivers and Liza have been done before. I was intrigued by the final ‘cast me on all stars’ comment. I would watch an International AllStars. Just not with the person who was eliminated today.

They have both been done. But not so effectively
International All stars does sound viable
Particularly with the addition of the Dutch version of the show.
Plenty of options

Honestly I hope regular seasons of All Stars will include people from any season of Drag Race including Canada, UK etc. (I don't know how it would work with queens from non-English speaking countries but as long as they have some level of English then they should be all right since there have been plenty of queens on the main show who have English as a second language). I am personally fine with All Stars including queens who didn't do well on their original season so that they get a second chance to show how much they've grown. However, I know a lot of people think it should be reserved only for the best of the best and the most iconic queens but that pool of people is quickly draining so opening All Stars to queens from the other regions would help prevent this problem (not to mention it would give UK queens the chance to win some money for once haha).

Not one of the better episodes tonight. On the basis of the lip sync, the right person stayed - which came as a surprise to me. But hopefully she won't be around for much longer
The main challenge was not great. And the runway - meh

Slightly OT but we should mark the passing of Chi Chi DeVayne.
A very sweet and genuine queen taken far, far too soon

Back to Canada...
Didn't think that it was the right winner. And I wouldn't have had that bottom 2
Not the top 4 going through that I would have liked.

Agreed, thought Jimbo should have won and Scarlet should have been in the bottom 2 with probably Lemon, with Lemon winning the lip sync. I like Jimbo though I find his fans' constant defensiveness of him tiring but this week his critiques were truly baffling and inconsistent and his make up and outfit were easily the best.

It is the judging that is really baffling
The lack of consistency is frustrating.
Jimbo did the best job. No question about it.
Lemon and Scarlet did the weakest job
Jeffrey is eye candy but he is no drag expert. Stacey was good at runway walking but has offered little else.
Michelle turning up next week will only highlight the problems with the panel. It is fixable. But not without returning to a head judge

I think the judging is a mess for sure but the same can be said for US Drag Race almost as often. I think the issue is the inconsistent story telling. As much as I hate how over-produced US Drag Race is, at least you can understand why the judging was pushed in a certain direction to make a clear storyline for each queen. This season I'm not sure what anyone's storyline really is. Jimbo won one week and then the next was told "welcome to the competition" as if he had been coasting this entire time. Lemon had 2 wins under her belt making her the second strongest competitor at this point but was sent home against the strongest competitor - on a regular season you can almost guarantee this would have been a double save or Scarlet, who has legitimately been coasting, would have been in the bottom especially since they set up the whole "don't just wear a simple bodysuit on the runway" thing this episode. The decision making is just very strange but hopefully All Stars will allow international contestants because I think Lemon would do great on it and so would some other Canada and UK (and Thailand if they're willing to go the whole nine yards) contestants.

Anyone other than Rita winning would feel unjustified now. Scarlet is mediocre at best. Priyanka hasn't proved herself. And Jimbo isn't loved by the judges.
I hope they get this right. For the sake of the franchise

Agree. I think Rita is highly likely to win, but Jimbo would be my choice. I love his style of drag, his creativity and his personality but the judges don’t seem to get him.
Disappointed in Priyanka: love his personality out of drag but even this week there was no “wow” factor about his maxi challenge. Bobo is fine - just not quite there compared to others. So glad Lemon finally went. A decent level of talent but not a performer who's act I would ever want to see. And has a lot of growing up to do.
While I still like Stacey on the judging panel, I find Jeffrey to be little more than a pretty puppet, trying to out-camp the queens week on week. in his favour, he tends to come across as much more sincere and warm than RuPaul ever doesn’t - although that would not be difficult! - but that’s about it.

So imo the top 4 are: Rita = just meh to me. Jimbo = mesmerizing throughout. Scarlett = not a standout but definitely needs more love. Priyanka = liked her to start with but unsure now. There's definitely bias towards Rita though. The denim runway from a few weeks ago really annoyed me. How on EARTH did she win, especially when you compare her to Jimbo's look!? I probably coming across as a major Jimbo stan, but there's no denying how unfair some/most of her critiques have been.
And JBC grinds my gears, he better not be around for s2.

I think Rita represents a polished, established queen with a broad range of talents. Her lipsync performance was outstanding and some of her looks have been superb.
Jimbo - depends on how much you go for quirky. On the whole I like it - but she hasn't always nailed it.
Priyanka - not yet a fully finished queen. She is still finding out who she is. I suspect she would have matured into a non-stop force by season 3 of CDR
Scarlett - never been more than mediocre to me. The face is over-fillered. The looks are mixed.
I would rather have seen Lemon in the top 4 than Scarlett. Lemon is again probably on a season or two early - but she is more of an all-rounder than Scarlett (and altogether prettier!)
Yes, Lime was a mess. But it was more put together than a body stocking with fringed jacket.

Well there we are.
A not undeserving winner but not who I would have chosen.
I am glad that doing the splits and lots of flips didn't win the lipsync. I want a performance of the song not a gym routine.
Green face arguably lost it for my preferred Queen.
And someone should have mentioned that two finalists could sing their verse. The other was just hidden behind backing singers and auto tune.
Hopefully they will rejig the judging panel and hosting for next year. We can't have that mess again.
