Btw...why was BJ wearing an ear-piece at PM’s Question Time yesterday....a fan of Heart FM or something more sinister? There was a particular still circulating that looked as though he might be wearing an earpiece, but viewing the actual footage showed it to be just a trick of the light.

Also if he was wearing an earpiece, that's an even more damning proof of how incompetent he is. If being petulant and slamming his fist on the table while getting angry is the best he can do WITH help, how on Earth would he cope on his own?

It is ventilation to stop damp spreading

Apologies if this issue has been mentioned here already, but I think the later down the road shows are postponed to, the more likely people are to ask for a refund rather than transfer their booking.
I - in earlier times - went to the theatre around 80-90 times a year. Since the lockdown, I have had many refunds for shows that cancelled. Some have said that they have postponed their shows and will contact me later to re-schedule or refund. As the time moves on, only a few have actually re-scheduled: in my case, the Open Air to similar dates in 2021, which I have accepted. More theatres that have cancelled this year's presentations might have worked this out and done the same, postponed the shows until 2021, transferred the tickets en-masse and retained the funds they have, then continued to sell any available unsold tickets.
I don't know how others feel, but as time moves on, there are shows I have booked where I'm less and less likely to agree to a re-scheduled date. I think this is because the initial impetus to see the show has subsided. Of course there are some shows I desperately still want to see: eg Leopoldstadt, and Sunday in the Park with Jake so will agree to re-scheduling. But others I will be happy to receive a refund. If theatres had been quicker off the mark with re-scheduling I may well have thought differently and re-scheduled. This is not a criticism of the theatres, or their approach; after all, no-one knew precisely how COVID19 would play out. It's merely an observation on how my views have changed since the lockdown started and theatres went dark from 23 March 2020.
Nearly all the theatres I have booked with have played more than fair and have offered refunds so far, so I think the industry in general has acted impeccably, despite the obvious risks to them as businesses. I will, of course, reciprocate when shows start again by attending as many shows as I want see. But I do wonder if the lack of theatre at the moment may cause me to attend fewer shows when theatre lockdown ends. I haven't been to see a show since 14 March and, as Carlotta sings, I'm Still Here.

Good post schuttep and I agree with a lot of your points. I think perhaps we were all a bit naive at the start of this process and when shows were cancelled in March and April it seemed entirely viable to plan to see them later in the summer or autumn. There are shows where I agreed to wait for a reschedule that is now likely to be next year if at all. I understand that I was helping the cashflow of the theatre by not requesting a refund at the time and in most cases I'd be happy to leave it as a theatre credit (or donation in some cases) but the enthusiasm to see some shows - particularly those nearing the end of their run, like Leopoldstadt for me - is declining as time goes on. It will take me time to get back to the amount of theatregoing that I was doing; we've discussed that on various threads here before and there are different views (probably relating to different circumstances like personal health conditions. perception of personal safety and projected future financial position), so while we thought that theatres might be closed for a few weeks and so a reschedule being possible (there are posts in the early stages of the Confirmed Cancellations thread about theatres announcing closures to the end of April, and people being surprised), it's looking increasingly likely that some of the shows won't reappear, due to reduced demand or the challenges of rescheduling creatives and cast, some of whom may want to start getting on to the next thing rather than revisiting something they did in 2020. We'll see how things pan out, I'm not blaming the theatres at all, but certainly there are some things that are on my tracking spreadsheet where I'm thinking "actually, I wouldn't be too upset if that doesn't happen" - which is no reflection on the show, cast or creatives, it's more a reflection on my currently diminished appetite to see as many shows.

To be fair I'm not sure that's entirely true. Counting methods aren't the same across Europe. We're highest certainly but perhaps not to that extent.

Face masks compulsory on public transport from 15th June. Hopefully the virus won't spread before then.

This TikTok tutorial on making a face mask from a sock still blows my mind in its elegant simplicity.

More people have died of the virus in Wigan Hospital than in the whole of Australia....unbelievable? No,it’s true!
On face masks-why wait for two more weeks?Should have been compulsory ten weeks ago surely

On face masks-why wait for two more weeks? Because thanks to panic buyers it's not like people can just walk into any shop and buy them. People can use them on public transport right now if they want to, but it would be ridiculous (and open to legal challenge) if the government made something compulsory without giving everyone a reasonable opportunity to comply with the change. (And for all practical purposes it's essentially one week, given that this week's nearly over.)

No it wouldn't - the rule is a face covering, not a mask. Everyone owns a scarf or a t-shirt, they will do.

True, although the problem with casual improvisation is that it probably won't do anything useful. I own several scarves (I don't know where they came from as I hardly ever use them) but none would offer any protection against disease.

^Agree with poster j....I’ve been using a number of colourful bandanas including one from the Pirates stage show in Majorca lol Noticed on twitter that the ‘Not Moving On Til Cummings Is Gone’ tag is still trending like crazy today...is there a point where he is such a liability that he just has to go or will he ride out the storm,I wonder?

Not to mention that whilst they are the deaths recorded on that day looking deeper into the date of deaths is important and very much beyond the headlines. About half the hospital deaths reported yesterday were from the last 5 days. Some even dated back.to March And before someone jumps down my throat each death is a tragedy and I would never belittle them. It's just frustrating when headlines are just lapped up without checking

Not trying to protect you against the disease...they are to try and stop you spreading it if you have it, so scarf or t-shirt mask fine. A mask DOES NOT PROTECT YOU so keep your distance but if others all wear them that will help (like if people sneezed into tissues or arm/sleeve.

These headlines such as the one referred to about having higher death rate than the 27 EU member states on one day ignored this fact though. I've been largely going by date of death charts that suggest we arent all that far from a hundred or less a day. Maybe I'm too much of an optimist but this feels like good news rather than food for scaremongering clickbait headlines

They get paid regardless of whether it works or not. Preliminary results were not that impressive (it didn’t stop monkeys catching it, but they seemed less likely to develop life threatening pneumonia) This is unlike any other vaccine development ever done, in that they will produce all the “contenders” as quickly as possible, knowing that some (all?) will not work. The collateral damage of producing vaccines they will just end up bining is worth it. That’s not to say I am not optimistic that we will get treatments and more understanding of this disease...I greatly admire scientists and their work...it’s just that we have to give them the breathing space to do so, by getting this under control.

Given plenty of people say masks are ineffectual / only beneficial as a form of placebo effect I'm not sure what you use really makes much of a difference! People arent all going to be able to afford N95 masks, or get hold of them even if they could.

The Welsh Assembly Government announced yesterday that those in the shielding group will need to extend their isolation until the 16th August. Letters to be sent out next week.
