Definitely you can go to walk-ins (or maybe only some walk-ins?). Bidborough House by King's Cross where I went to today was taking walk-ins of any age, they didn't turn me away and I'm 28. I've got one booked for there in a couple of days time but I planned it to work with work times, do you think from your experience yesterday with waiting 5 hours I might be there for ages? Were people with appointment times in a different queue? I definitely can't be there for anywhere near as long as you were. |

My local pharmacy was turning away under 30s today to prioritise the over 30s.
Over 30s who walked in were seen, though most of us had appointments anyway. Half an hour wait past my scheduled appointment time (though I didn't turn up early, it ended up just being in queue order so appointment time didn't matter). Very efficient though for such a small centre, and very busy.

Of all the ridiculous measures mooted recently, this is the silliest. I can hear the conversations now "Yes Tracy I appreciate you've had seven Jager Bombs and are in the middle of doing the Macarena, but can I see your Covid pass?" That tweet is intentional misinformation. The rules apply to nightclubs, dance halls, discotheques and any other venue which is open between 01:00 and 05:00, serves alcohol after 01:00, has a dance floor and provides music for dancing. It's not "you have to check Covid passes at 01:00". It's "if you're the type of venue that is open after 01:00 you have to check Covid passes on entry at all times".
I suspect the purpose of it is to deal with people who think they can evade the restrictions by redefining their venue as something other than a nightclub, dance hall or discotheque, because it's what the venue is for that matters, not what you call it.

Does anyone know how long you have to wait between second dose and booster now. There is obviously the huge push saying get boosted now but I only had my second dose on the 23rd of October. Do I need to wait till 23rd Jan for it or is it 8 weeks? Very unclear on this. They’ve brought booking right forward but no mention of safe time gap?

There was a sign at the pharmacy I got my booster at today saying that to get a booster second dose had to have been no later than 19 October, so judging from that it is 8 weeks. |

I believe that officially you have to wait 12 weeks (91 days) from your second dose though you can book that after 2 months (61 days) so I suspect that if you book online it will stick to the 91 days but if you go to a smaller walk-in place you may be able to get it before. As with everything to do with this Government the messaging is is completely unclear and I'm sure that pharmacies haven't been given clear guidance if indeed at any all. And of course everything is a moveable feast......

It's really making me rethink my planned trip to Dear Evan Hansen on Saturday from Cardiff, despite having been boosted and always wearing a mask. I'll probably come to a decision on Friday and see how things are. I don't particularly want to risk ruining my family's Christmas if I come back with Omicron (I live with my parents), as self-isolation is still mandatory in Wales if you're a close contact, regardless of vaccination status.

At least when theatres were closed, people knew where they were and could plan accordingly or look for other jobs.
This is just chaos and leaving people in financial dire straits who cannot plan ahead.

I wonder how quickly Paxlovid can be approved and rolled out because the very good results in preventing severe disease, hospitalisation and deaths could have a huge impact with the current and future waves.

Surely after Monday's turnout they will have adjusted to try and cut waiting times. I am feeling quite stupid for having stayed there for that long as a walk-in, but wanted to secure my jab (and the last 3h or so were spent not that far from the door to the centre so that seemed within reach...), was uncertain about when I could have booked a booster, and had the day off, so in the end I guess it was still fine for me. |

I've been reading about the GSK Medicago vaccine and I'm impressed that you can make a vaccine using plant based technology. Not sure if it'll be used in the UK but I can see it being bought and donated to poorer countries.

I'm leaning more towards going and being extra careful (double masking and sanitizing before and after the Tube) as it might be the last time I get to go to London for a while if things get worse come January. I was at the Pantomime in Malvern this evening. Mask wearing started off pretty well but substantially worsened through the performance and especially after the interval. Apart from 2 concerts it was the first time I had been to a theatre since last February.
If masks are not being enforced I don't think I will be hurrying back either. I've nothing booked now until January, when heavens knows what the situation will be like.
Panto was good though and great to laugh in company again.

Maybe it’s me being a bit thick, but there’s something I don’t understand…
I’ve lost track a bit of the ever-changing rules, especially as ours are different in Wales, but according to ITV’s website, in England as of yesterday a fully vaccinated close contact of anyone with coronavirus only needs to do a lateral flow test every day for seven days after contact, while unvaccinated contacts need to isolate.
I know the omicron variant is more contagious, but if theatres are as safe as they’ve been made out to be, and the people working in them are being tested regularly, and assuming they’ve done the responsible thing and gotten themselves vaccinated, then what’s gone so badly wrong to close so many shows all at the same time? I could understand a few needing to close at any one time, but this goes way beyond that.

Being vaccinated doesn't stop you getting it, and being in close quarters with someone who has it makes it likely you will get it too. So it isn't at all surprising when multiple company members or crew go down with it around the same time, and theatres don't have infinite numbers of cast and crew. If a lead and their two understudies all test positive then I'm not sure how you expect them to do the show... |

I did some maths and if every seat in each of those theatres was sold (which let's face it is not the case, since Prince of Egypt is on that list, but humour me), the west end lost roughly £800,000 tonight in ticket refunds. Terrifyingly unsustainable. |
