Low contacts. Safe distance. Low risk ... Howâs that? I would user fewer contacts or low number of contacts but less words is more powerful and I think it sort of explains? I like it. It has the advantage of a strong rhythm to it with a regular heavy stress on the first word of each part. It's better than the government's "Stay alert. Forget Cummings. Look, a squirrel!"

Sorry. yo! i really didnt want to bring this up but for the benefit of the mods BurlyBear and The Matthew....... So beginning of this year after nearly 40 years of trying to work out what was wrong with me i was diagnosed with severe complex PTSD. i was about to to start some intense therapy but the blasted virus happened so all i have been left with is some books and the internet. this has actually been a massive help and now starting on the road of understanding is helping wme understand symptoms. the one thing with early trauma (and forgive me if im getting any of this majorly wrong, im just at the start of my journey) is it REALLY f***s with how your brain works and wires it in different ways and one of these is with memory. now, for my WHOLE life i have been spectacularly bad at remembering words. Names and street names never stick and as i have got older whole words evaporate from my memory (for the life of me i couldnt remember the word for a spoon the other day!!). i deal with this with humor but i could not tell you the amount of times i have been called stupid. or thick. or stroke victim. or that im just trolling people as how could someone that seems so capable and intelligent not remember the word spoon?! Now im not saying everyone of the people that arnt getting 'it' have complex PTSD but i am saying, like i said already earlier, that you dont know peoples lifes, experiences etc and they may be very different from yours. and if you continuously want to wallow in the ignorance that if YOU can understand something then everyone else MUST be able to then you really need get an empathy MOT. Sorry i had to write all that but people really need to show kindness to others at the moment

After 2 years of treatment my life has improved 1000%, frankly just finding out what the hell was wrong with me improved my life 800%! I also highly recommend supplementing lithium orotate (frankly EVERYONE with any sort of anxiety should take it) as it completely changed my life within a few days of taking it! Best of luck on your journey back to the real you!

Iâm sorry to hear about your personal struggles betty but I think what I am saying is that generally people in other countries get it. Thatâs not discounting the people who for a plethora of reasons may not. This whole thing has to be dealt with in generalisations because there canât be tailored message to fit every circumstance. Which is the point matthew made earlier.

Another intervention this time by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. (CIEH) CIEH raises concerns over centralisation putting public health at risk. www.cieh.org/news/press-releases/2020/cieh-raises-concerns-over-centralisation-putting-public-health-at-risk/Stay safe, continue to be alert and despite these warnings it is as safe as it is likely to get outside your front door, keep your distance, donât linger and wash your hands. Most of us are fortunately in the low risk group but always remember your duty to the ones less fortunate.

People in those countries probably trust their governments... Kidding me? Havenât you seen whatâs been happening with Gilet Jaune in France over the last year? Yes I was kidding clearly Look, everyone is different and I really don't think the government can be blamed for people's actions at this point. Beyond offering financial support and a zippy slogan they clearly do not care so it is up to us as individuals to protect ourselves. We also shouldn't be attacking each other as that does not help the situation. We all KNOW how to stay safe from this thing by now and it is up to us to choose as individuals how we are going to deal with this. The problem however is when you take 'authority' out of the equasion, you have everyone with their own contrary beliefs carrying on the way THEY want to and in the current situation that is VERY dangerous. It causes chaos and frankly we know that is what the people in power atm thrive on. Many more people are going to die from this if we continue on this course. We should still be on lockdown, that is how countries have all but eradicated the disease or will come very close to doing in the next month or so. We however seem to be going backwards. Our numbers are still far too high even with the lockdown which tells me people have not been doing as they were supposed to during its time. 'I' will be staying in lockdown, but that is my choice and thankfully I can for the moment afford to do that, so whatever anyone else does for the time being really doesn't effect me as I will be staying in my lounge room x

1) Roughly how old were you when you first grasped the idea that diseases are caught from other people? 2) Roughly what percentage of adults in Britain is it reasonable to expect not to understand that diseases are caught from other people? 3) What level of education is required to understand that diseases are caught from other people? A levels? A degree? Or primary school? I have a friend whose father has just turned 70, and has not been following the lockdown rules. Just canât seem to grasp that he shouldnât be popping round to his mateâs for a cup of tea, or having family and friends over for a BBQ (there ended up being about 12 of them in his back garden for his birthday). He doesnât use the internet or pay much attention to the news. Her mum died last year and he was totally reliant on her for many things - theyâve had to teach him how to write a cheque and use the oven. Heâs not stupid, heâs just very set in his ways and finds it hard to learn new things. And it has to be said that there are very basic, obvious health messages that may people do not follow, even though they know them. How many men wash their hands after using the loo? I know someone who said their sonâs school had to actually put soap in the boysâ bathroom as a result of the Coronavirus - they hadnât bothered to even provide it before.

In todayâs Briefing the number of deaths was recorded as being 111.
Looking in the data pack.
31/05 38,489 01/06 39,045
This is a rise of 556
This discrepancy is probably due a change in the way they record deaths, previously they included any catch up that werenât previously included but now they appear to be only recording confirmed Covid-19 deaths in the last 24hrs. (this increase is likely to be usual weekend effect which is now being hidden)
This changing of the methodology continues to erode trust and unless you dig the total deaths will slowly disappear from the narrative especially as we will likely break the 40,000 deaths this week.
It is this underhanded massaging of figures is why I will never trust this Government.
The rolling 7 day average hasnât changed in over a week and is stable at around 250 which would indicate we have plateaued something which hasnât happened in any other EU Country.

Piers tweeting that not a single Tory MP will now go on the Breakfast show...he says he will âtake any of themâ....his style is rambunctious and uproarious for sure, but Tory politicians should be able to stand their ground and fight their corner or they will be seen as spineless....

There is no end to their subterfudge. I am almost looking at the protests in the US with admiration. Not the looting obviously. Cases are rising. Slowly and it will be a few weeks before it feed through to deaths. I fear. I fear with all these demonstrations in the US. Rightbthingnat wrong time.

Governments and their leaders must multi-task constantly. That's why having competent professionals and elected leaders in all government agencies is so critical. I've been a staffer in a government agency and we constantly were dealing with multiple issues of great significance.
But one of the first priorities of any government most definitely is human life and safety (and all that they requires). That's why it is a part of the base of Maslow's Hierarchy.

The point of MP's and especially Government ministers going on shows like that is to answer questions and explain their decisions and policies, if they are not given a chance to get a word in edge ways and just blasted with a constant tirade from a man who likes the sound of his own voice and actually clearly doesn't really have any interest in what they are saying and just wants a controversial moment so twitter and facebook blows up about it, then good for those MP's and the Government for refusing. So would I and in fact I would have stopped them going on there far earlier. They did well to stick to sending spokespeople on there for so long.

I agree they should be allowed the chance to answer questions and explain their policies. What a shame that when they are given that chance, they are so frequently incapable of adequately doing either.

Iâm not defending the government. I can tell a hawk from a handsaw but I do not see why we blame them for the deaths. Not now, maybe ill prepared earlier, we agree on that. But seeing the Bank Hol mayhem, the crowd on the beaches, the protesters in Trafalgar Square and frankly the number of people crowding about everywhere, what do we expect? It is like what we do know, not a lot, but we do know that it is contagious, that people can spread it without having symptoms and that symptoms can be mild but translate to fatal in others, have never been understood. Where I live than goodness, we queue distanced, nod to each other as we pass in the street, call over to neighbours etc. When I see people in crowds I am furious that they are putting back my normality for weeks. Iâm not annoyed at people sitting in their gardens, chairs miles apart and my heart aches for people separated from loved ones or forced to stay inside because of illness but people crowding is just asking for a spread. Two of my most sensible friends ( now not so much) went to a gathering of about 20 people just before the lockdown. They and everyone else there became ill. So yes something has gone disastrously wrong here. As a nation we have mislaid our common sense.

He finally had one on this morning who foolishly hadnât read the papers so didnât know about the new âno sleepovers with people from separate housesâ rule. Mostly it was Piers berating him for this, and the MP telling him that this was why people didnât come on. Laughable. Who else will hold this appalling cluster-f@ck to account? I felt a little sorry for Matt Hancock in the beginning when it looked like he would be thrown to the wolves when it all went tits up, but heâs learning from the rest, brazening it out, sneakily manipulating figures etc and laughing while he does it. These really are the darkest of days.
On a more positive media note both Alison Hammond on âThis Morningâ & Clara Amfo on Radio One put the current race situation into perspective helping people confront things that they had never had to process. Pain and clarity like I have never heard before.

And even then, you have to compare like with like in terms of how deaths are recorded. Not all countries use the same methods (I believe Italy have never included care homes... needs fact checking) so the bottom line is that comparing number of deaths is, for now, pretty pointless and potentially misleading.

On the numbers-we are easily the highest daily death toll in Europe.Spain had 2 deaths on Friday last and Germany 5 and we are in triple figures..,something has gone disastrously wrong here It went wrong at the start. The delay in implementing the lockdown allowed the number of infections to increase by a factor of ten or so, which means we've had to deal with ten times as much of everything all the way through. Ten times as many infections, ten times as many deaths, ten times as many hospital beds, ten times as much protective equipment, and so on. Back at the start I used the analogy of finding a fire and ignoring it in the hope that it burns itself out. If it doesn't, every problem you have to deal with as a result is much worse no matter what you do.

Late lockdown which they dithered about, less severe lockdown than other countries and loosened earlier so infection rates and deaths remain higher yet didn't mitigate economic damage, care homes very badly hit, PPE still inadequate, mixed messages around alert levels, loosening regulations haphazardly without support of stakeholders who felt there was no guidance, severely undermined its own messaging while treating the population like fools in order to protect an unelected advisor, coming up with a bizarre quarantine policy which seems to have annoyed everyone and ignores that the main issue we'll have is other countries not letting us in, reopening Parliament while shutting down electronic participation options meaning shielding MPs can't attend and the best way they could come up with allowing people to vote is to stand in a very big queue.
But yeah the government hasn't done much wrong.

BurlyBeaR for comparison the best indicator is excess deaths over the 5 year average. Most countries publish this data and we are consistently in the top two places by population or total when the equivalent time periods are compared. The FT have an excellent tracking and comparison data set.

324 deaths for June 1st just announced by govt.... closing in on 40,000 deaths so far ^ Talking of potentially misleading information....Laughing Boy Hancock reprimanded by UK Stats Authority for putting out incomplete and unfathomable data yesterday when various commentators and eminent scientists/statisticians etc seriously questioned the numbers of deaths and how the data was being presented....another question I have is why is he presenting the science data ?What happened to the scientists?...oh and btw...whereâs Boris today?
