My friend also saw Britney Coleman and said it was refreshing to see an AA playing Betty. What he didn't find refreshing was the very loud sound of a toilet being flushed immediately after Norma says, "and now Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up"

I can't confirm if it's true or not, but it's possible. And normally I would think that if they do have a click track, it's probably there to boost her up and not to completely substitute her vocals. So she probably starts the big note, but somewhere in the middle a click track is introduced and her actual live vocal faded out. The person who told me claims she did it fully live in London, but they decided to be on the safe side in New York. ali - I've seen Sunset live twice so far in NY - in February during previews and two weeks ago... doubt very highly there was a click track - both times sounded natural and different... And there was a live video floating of As If We Never Said Goodbye where you could hear she was "talk-singing" more than the times I saw it. As for recording this/filming this - for those of you who saw it in London, didn't they have a Q & A with Lonnie one evening and he said that it was being recorded? We're hoping that the producers here might be pissed about the obvious slight of the Tony Awards and decide to film and release it, but...

ALW talking about the film of Sunset on EP's show today. Said it was out of his hands but there is a possibility of it and he would love Glenn as Norma if it happened

They hold the rights to the original B&W Movie and as such they have the final say as to whether ALW can proceed with a recording which in the past they havnt wanted.

Said it was out of his hands but there is a possibility of it and he would love Glenn as Norma if it happened I wish they would just record the damn thing on stage as they did Love Never Dies or Phantom of the Opera (25th anniversary). It's hard to imagine Paramount agreeing to a full-blown re-doing of the film, and I'm not sure it would even work. But to have this preserved with a well shot filming of it would be phenomenal. Interesting that Oliver Stone, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg have all been to the Palace Theatre to see it though.

I think the issue is that paramount hold the rights to the story in video format so that restricts it being recorded in any format, be it full blown movie production or standard theatre shoot. Its not as simple as just recording it on-stage.

Nancy Anderson went on as Norma: Ooo wow, and we thought London's response was bad, I can imagine there was alot of returns on Broadway! But I'm sure she was fabulous! Just saw someone at stage door saying she literally found out she was on an hour before the show!

Glenn is over the title on Broadway so they have to give refunds if an audience member requests if Glenn is out.

You guys..
Two of my favorite things on earth unite. The revival of Will and Grace uses As If We Never Said Goodbye as the trailer for the new season. I just can't.

That's true. I wonder if Rosario will be back. And I also wonder what celebrities they'll have on (Gaga? Midler?). I also wonder if they'll all be single again? Grace got married to Leo, Will to Vince. Are they single again? OMG I can't wait.

Is Rosario still a maid? I feel that while that was never okay back then, it won't fly these days.
PS-Mullally looks amazing.

From what I heard from people at the theatre on Sunday, yes there was some disappointed people - particularly because it was Mothers Day, and Sunset was a particularly hot ticket for Mothers Day... and because Sundays are a strange day theatre wise (which shows are performing/which aren't), there wasn't a lot of other options available. But all that being said, while some asked for refunds/new tickets, there was a pretty full theatre and Nancy really did win them all over.
Will be returning (see what I did there) for my third visit this Saturday afternoon. Will let you know how Glenn sounds by then!

I mean, bless her! She always has come across as genuine and gracious. She didn't have to put this statement out she shouldn't have to justify her illness, but it shows she has a kind heart by doing so, and seems she was gutted to miss the show.

Awww, nice of her to single out her understudy in that way. She's a classy lady.

I wonder if Glenn, since she was already at the theatre, stayed to see/hear the show with her understudy?

For those who want a glimpse of the Overture - with the "altered" note that ALW added a year ago (wonder if this change will be in all future productions)

Awww, nice of her to single out her understudy in that way. She's a classy lady. And of course, the biggest jerk of them all- Cynthia Erivo, bashed Ms. Close for this statement. She said that this "isn't classy" and her only job is to recover and go back to work. Says the woman who didn't show up to work after running a marathon*. Can Cynthia just STFU and take a seat forever? Please Ms. Thing, don't get ahead of yourself. You won a Tony, might have appeared on Essence, but girl, no one knows who you are, and most importantly, no one cares for your entitled and rude opinion. *Run a marathon all you want. I don't think work should get in the way of you doing what you want to do. Heck, maybe you should have scheduled an absence after the show. But don't judge others for the inability to perform- you're a performer, and there will be times when you can't go on.

Cynthia is getting a VERY big head and has hired a personal publicist and an agent on both sides of the Atlantic. Yes - she was AMAZING in Color Purple but it is true that she should mind her own business. What Glenn did WAS classy and she has had a career of close to 50 years. Cynthia should be so lucky to have a career like that.
Cynthia also was out of the show from time to time, which is fine, but people in glass houses....

Found it; liked it. (Not her post, Ali's).
Josie Benson did the London Marathon last year and performed in In The Heights later that day. (The timings are probably different and Camila is clearly a less demanding role than Celia, but Ms Benson is at least a decade older than Ms Erivo).

Ali - you crack me up... Honestly, I was asking myself with all sincerity "Who is Cynthia?" when I saw the headline on BWW today and then when I read it, I just shook my head. People seriously look for stuff to be pissed off about. Close has demonstrated what an amazingly classy woman, unassuming and incredibly supportive (I mean, she literally forced the producers to bring her ENO counterparts over for this show) why some no name wants to somehow chime in and make an issue...who the hell knows
