"In mid-March, the Old Vic became one of the first theatres to announce its temporary closure when it cancelled the remaining run of its acclaimed production of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Cumming. In an email to Endgame ticket-holders, the theatre stated that offering a full refund would be “financially devastating” and asked customers to consider donating the cost of their tickets."
That was only a couple of performances if I remember correctly. If that already is financially devastating...

The finances of the Old Vic have been on a knife edge for as long as I can remember, this isn't a surprise.

If they face devastation because of a few performances and have postponed their other productions (not refunded yet) and already sell A Christmas Carol..while other productions/theatres hasve refunded weeks and months of tickets...knife edge indeed and very possible ruinous in the long run.
