I love reading your small joys! (Especially the ones involving kittens. Or big fat cats. When it comes to cats, I don't discriminate.)
For some reason, I woke up this morning and thought I might revisit the Simon Stephens episode of The Lockdown Plays over coffee. And that turned out to be such a good idea.
I absolutely love the way Stephens writes, and it made me so happy and sad simultaneously, but in a good way.
‘I had this, this…this plan in my head. In my head, about what my life was gonna be like, and what it was going to be. And it was good, my life, it was good, I don’t regret it. But it was never like what that plan was, because every part of that plan involved you.’
‘You were 23 when you wrote to me about Robin. […] I’ve still got the letter. Somewhere. Don’t know where precisely. I do, really.’
(Also, I got an email last night that may turn into something lovely. The email in itself was a joy, but it can only get better... Fingers crossed!)Edit: I have no idea what I've done to the font. Sorry!

Writing birthday cards and a few letters has made me pause and reflect not only on the fact that I'm so fortunate to have wonderful friends but to also have the time to do this properly for once and not in my lunch break at work. I consider cards to be 'hugs in envelopes' and love the idea that those hugs will be on their way to the recipients tomorrow

clair, I love the idea of 'hugs in envelopes'. I never used to buy cards, and then I moved to England and got a few - here it seems to be a big thing - and realised I find them really nice. Now I'm a cards person, I guess. My day turned out being all about - don't laugh - ice-cream and Simon Stephens. I got some Ben&Jerry's (which I've been dreaming of for days), and I walked there and back listening to Dan Rebellato talk to Simon Stephens, which is the most beautiful interview ever.

Ooh, ice cream. It's seven weeks since I last had ice cream, which was the last time I went out for lunch. I must consider buying more.

I now feel the need for ice cream too - that's essential right, not a luxury?! Tomorrow's walk just might need to pass by Sainsburys in order to stock up, it all died in the fridge freezer breakdown and hasn't been replaced as yet!

I will spread some happiness now, and tell you both that B&J - which may just be the best ice-creams in the world in my humble view - are on sale in both Sainsbury's (£3.5) and in Tesco (£2.5).

Thanks, although Carte D'Or wins for me even if they did stop my favourite cherry flavour, also thinking that I need some solero in my life

Just finished the tub of M&S Percy Pig ice cream. It's very moorish.

I second the love for Carte D'Or. That or Haagen Daz. Though I am partial to Ben & Jerrys when I go to the cinema, whenever that next may be!
I'm avoiding ice cream binge by keeping the freezer full of other things so the ice cream doesn't fit. The result is that my stash is only two Cornettos at the minute.

Pack of 12 Cadbury Creme Eggs for £2 at Sainsbury’s 😁
Couldn’t resist and bought 2 packs as not many left, now only need the self-discipline to make them last.

I love Creme Eggs! Bought an Easter Egg with 5 in last week which I've resisted so far, but that may not last as they're on my mind now. I'm one of the lucky ones who's been able to save money this month, so treated myself to some new pyjamas and both seasons of Smash on Amazon. The Jeremy Jordan obsession is only slightly unhealthy I think 😁

Bluebells...
and I don't mean the few you have growing in your garden, I mean the massed profusion you see in some woodland. I always find this a breathtaking, magical sight that raises my spirits enormously. I've just finished doing a 5 mile walk in Swinley Forest which is owned by Her Maj (Crown Estate) and there is one such stunning display, right next to Bagshot Park (Prince Edward's gaff.) Now is the time to do your bluebell walk but don't delay - they are usually only around until mid-May - you won't regret it.

My god! Weeks without ice cream! 😱 How have you managed?!
That reminds me - ate the last of mine (dairy-free) last night, must add it to the shopping list. Discovered the other week that my local corner shop has a Roar brand of vegan ice cream that has hemp seeds in it - chocolate brownie flavour, proper tasty, can’t get it in Sainsbury’s.

M&S now have 75% off easter eggs and my local store has hundreds still. I resisted temptation though. To be honest I like whats in the eggs but the plain chocolate shell is a bit boring, so even though it's a bargain I still wont bother.

Woohoo! Several years ago Catnip books started to republish a series of books I loved as a child, number 11 of 12 came out Dec 2015 and since then I've been checking every so often for the final one - have emailed them several times and never had any response - and had pretty much given up hope. Happened to have a look on Amazon just now and it came out in January of this year. Very happy bunny now

Bought some magnums today so that will do my ice cream and chocolate fix for today. After all it is a weekend and we are entitled to a treat! Still got easter eggs left as we bought ours when on offer and also some cream eggs and mini eggs from Tesco after easter as very cheap prices mmm.

I still have a few books from when I was a child, and a couple bought as an adult because I hadn't been able to get them originally. The price had gone up a bit: from 20p to £4.99.

I just bought a Coolhaus ice cream sandwich for later. It's two big cookies with ice cream between them. Definitely something I can't finish in one sitting! cool.haus/product/packs/sammies/

With so many people at home with nothing to do I've found a lot of ex work colleagues have been going through old photos and putting them on Facebook. So I've been looking at all the old pictures from the 80s as a holiday rep and its bringing back so many lovely memories and faces and I'm enjoying remembering those great times being overseas, young and thin!

This may sound really silly, maybe it is, but I took my summer clothes out of storage boxes and hung them in my closet today (and washed the winter ones, to put those away), and the idea of wearing some of the lovely dresses I own really brightened my mood! Who knows when and where, though...

Who knows when and where, though. Even in these strange times I have tried to act as normally as possible. Dressing as I would normally etc. I think I saw it on tv the other week, suggesting that it made you feel better if you don't just slouch around in pyjamas, not for a moment I was suggesting you do! So I would wear your dresses when the weather permits and share a bit of brightness!

Now you see for me the one upside of working from home is that I don't have to dress for work, i'm not one of those people who feel better from dressing up, I feel better from dressing down, so whilst I am getting dressed each day (too may zoom call not to) I am embracing the elasticated waste big time.
But yes I swapped my winter and summer clothes round yesterday, I thought that was why the weather is now forecast to change! And @forrest if wearing your summer stuff in your front room makes you feel better go for it, whatever works in this set up.
