Rice and a homemade vegetables and tomato/coconut milk curry. I made a big batch, so I had it yesterday - when I added some peanut butter - and today I added some extra spices and extra coconut milk. I have some left for tomorrow too. I may turn into a coconut by the time I'm finished with all of it.
There will be some B&J for dessert.

Oh B & J! I was momentarily concerned for your social distancing ..
I had sardines on toast. Who knew. Pudding has become a vanilla-flavoured protein shake. Hoping the excitement eases down soon.

My lunch still hasn't varied from the standard wholemeal roll with a cheese slice and tomato relish, plus an apple, which today I had in stages while out walking - it really suits just about any situation as long as the weather isn't too cold. But what I'm noticing is that not only do others here have a far more varied lunch intake but generally a larger one. Is there no-one else who has her/his main meal in the evening as I do? Apart from anything else, I like to have something to look forward to, especially now.

Thank you, TallPaul! Was thinking when out walking today that it was warm enough for ice cream, which would make a nice dessert this evening (after the salade nicoise OH has prepared), but I didn't pass any shops once near home again, so I forgot.

Firecracker-coated chicken mini fillets for lunch today, with hash browns. I have a rhubarb crumble waiting for me later, with copious amounts of custard.

Of no use to you down there, but faced with the loss of such a key customer, the farm that supplies ice cream to Sheffield Theatres has teamed up with other 'artisan' suppliers, and one of the local mini cab companies, to provide an internet farm shop, with ordering via an app. All very enterprising, and providing much needed income to the suppliers and drivers!

Apart from anything else, I like to have something to look forward to, especially now. Yes. We've always had our main, cooked meal in the evening. When I'm at work I just have sandwiches for lunch, when at home usually cheese & crackers, fruit & something sweet. I too am surprised at the number of people having cooked lunches. Is this just because of being at home for the lockdown? I'd assume that in normal life most people would have their main meal in the evening as that's when they're most likely to be at home (apart from when at the theatre, obviously!).

Is there no-one else who has her/his main meal in the evening as I do? Until a few years ago I had my main meal in the evening, and if I go out in the evening I sometimes still do, but I've found that if I have the main meal in the evening then I tend to snack all day while if I have a full meal early in the afternoon then I eat very little after that. So where possible I eat earlier and end up eating less in total.

We get an ice cream van every day. Started about 10 days ago. Haven't seen it yet, just heard the noise

My current favourite is Kelly's Clotted Cream Ice Cream. I'm not one for exotic flavours - always prefer vanilla - and it's often half price at Tesco and sometimes Waitrose.

Oh B & J! I was momentarily concerned for your social distancing .. Fear not, neither Ben nor Jerry turned up, so it was just me and the ice-cream. A perfectly lockdown-friendly arrangement! showgirl, I guess on weekends I always have lunch as my main meal of the day, because I have more time to prepare it, and to actually sit down and enjoy eating it. Over the working week, it really depends: sometimes it's just a sandwich, sometimes a full meal. More often the former, due to time constraints, especially while I was working from an actual office. But I prefer to eat a bigger meal earlier if I can. tmesis, I love Kelly's Clotted Cream! Haven't bought it in ages, I've kind of been avoiding buying any ice-cream until this week, because I find the temptation too big when I know it's in the freezer. But the lovely kitschiness of things like chocolate fish, marshmallow, cookie dough chunks and salted caramel swirl make B&J my best friends when it comes to ice-cream.

Is there room for any actual ice cream with all those non-ice-cream items in there?! Oh, not all of these are in the same flavour! I've currently got Phish Food, which is chocolate ice-cream with marshmallow and caramel and dark chocolate fish, and Cone Together, which is a vanilla base, with a salted caramel swirl and chocolate covered crunchy cone pieces. But yes, there definitely is! :) The ice-cream base itself is very good (I'm normally not a big fan of chocolate ice-cream, I usually find it too sweet, but I think theirs is excellent), but it's the added stuff that makes it both particularly tasty (the caramel is divine - and actually salty - which I love, the chocolate fish are made of really nice dark chocolate...) and fun! If you like that kind of food, of course.

Forrest I think I'll be sticking to rather plainer ice cream options - mint choc chip is as fancy as I go with ice cream!

Well, that's another consideration re lunch, @posterj, ie the fact that I too am still working, and from home in the morning but from the office in the afternoon to help cover those parts of our essential services which can only be provided from there. So though I'm allowed travel time, I always end up rushing lunch and going in early as we can't get through the workload otherwise. Must however think about ice cream supplies (for future use, as the weather is now turning), but as I now do our big supermarket shop weekly or fortnightly by car, I will have to leave ice cream until the last of the 2 or 3 shops I usually visit in the hope that it doesn't melt during the drive home. And TallPaul, I wasn't going to mention the T-word but the situation you mention is exactly what came to my mind when discussing ice cream consumption!

And TallPaul, I wasn't going to mention the T-word but the situation you mention is exactly what came to my mind when discussing ice cream consumption! By coincidence, there was an interesting report by Tom Heap on Countryfile last Sunday. Some dairy farmers are now having to pour milk straight down the drain, not so much because we aren't eating ice cream at the theatre, though that will impact some, but because of the collapse in sales to coffee shops, and the wider hospitality sector.

Big bowl of salad followed by a homemade chocolate brownie. It’s all about balance! Dawnstar I love mint choc chip ice cream, always get a scoop or two when I go to the cinema.
