BoOverall , I love your blog! Today's lunch was a version of Michelle Obama's cauliflower mac'n'cheese recipe (I made a big batch hoping it would last me two days, but it might also be three), sautéed cauliflower leaves with smoked paprika and a cucumber salad with dill. I'm about to make coffee and nibble on some dark chocolate. Oh yes, her recipe is lovely isn’t it. A big yes here to cauli leaves: so tasty.

Yes, it's a great recipe and it fantastically 'tolerates' me playing with what I've got rather than sticking to it in full each time, which I love. :) Carrot ginger soup and a side of homemade kale chips. That sounds fantastic! I might be stealing lunch (or dinner) ideas from you this time! :) Today it was the other half of the cauliflower mac'n'cheese and gherkins. There was no time for dessert.

Writing pantos atm and came across this foodie joke- Why don’t the French eat two eggs for lunch?
Because one is always enouef
Today was creamy tomato pasta with red pepper and caramelised onion infused ciabatta

A sandwich: toasted sesame bagel, butter, red leicester, mango chutney. Coffee, dark chocolate (G&B Sea salt) and the Caryl Churchill episode of 'The Lockdown Plays' for dessert.

Homemade pizza with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. After baking, it's topped with some arugula and a drizzle of balsamic. Makes me feel fancy lol. Bowl of fresh. mixed berries for dessert.

Planning something similar myself for tomorrow or Friday - I finally managed to buy bread flour and yeast, and I got a new food processor this week and I'm looking for opportunities to play with it.

Ham and chips.
For some reason it brought to mind Brian Blessed, perhaps because of the Large Ham page at TV Tropes.

It was a bacon butty kind of a day today 🙂 Far be it from me to disagree, but it was a freshly made carbonara day followed by apple crumble.

Modified Chicken Caesar Salad. By modified I mean my version rather than a classic recipe but it’s near enough. Whenever I have this I’m reminded of how fantastic this concept of crisp lettuce, roast chicken, croutons, and a dressing with grated Parmesan all tossed in at the end is. I think it may be my favourite ever salad.

Taramasalata and pitta bread, with some salad. Sitting in the garden, enjoying the sun, really don't want to go back inside to work!

After 3 days of batch cooking I've managed to cram 12 meals in the freezer. The aim is now to keep on top of it. Today's meal was chicken, sweetpotato and chickpea slightly spiced stew

It was meant to be pitta pockets with fried halloumi, tomato and humus. However I had to throw the pitta and just eat the rest. Bought the pitta last week and it said use by July 2020 but I split the bag and froze them in packets of 2 straight away. Went to eat them and all mouldy. Never mind the rest of the stuff was nice.

Dalh made with coconut water. A wee bit sweet tasting for liking so I nabbed some chilli sauce off a colleague. Hurrah for team work.

After learning of the vegan cooking TikTok sensation Tabitha Brown, I've been watching some of her great clips. Her take on sweet potato avocado "toast" tickled me so I think it will be on the menu for lunch. I love her soothing voice and some of the expressions she uses in her videos, particularly when adding a lot of spices: "that's your business."

Yesterday we had fresh English asparagus with melted butter - the first we've had this year. Then roast lamb with new potatoes, carrots plus leeks in white sauce with gravy and mint sauce. We were due to have homemade rhubarb and apple crumble and custard for pudding but were so full that we had that in the evening.
The reason I mention this is every now and then I feel a bit down and sorry for myself in lockdown and then I think about Helen Dunmore's "The Seige", which describes the seige of Leningrad and how people were reduced by starvation to cutting bits off a leather belt to boil with water to make a soup.
Then I think: "Maybe life isn't that bad."
