Says John Williams not John Wilson on my EPG! God my eyesight is getting worse. Thanks the correction. I'm sure its still worth a watch. Haha just didn't want you to get disappointed! From what I remember, I enjoyed it but was surprised at how little I knew beyond the famous movie themes.

I've just signed up for BFI player, though I don't think I can play it on my TV unless I get an amazon stick. Our desktop has a good screen though!

Can't find it on the English-language site either. Don't know what to say ... sorry! If you didn't see it, the link about to www.marquee.tv/ offers some good things.

This all starts to make me feel a bit better. THANK YOU all so much for sharing this.
I've been on and off this board for the past year because it doesn't always bring out the best in me*, but it's been invaluable this week in particular, so thank you all.
*Reflection on me not any of you!

I'm currently catching up on The Split, it's not exactly high quality drama but it's very entertaining. Going to watch Channel 5's new drama Penance as well.

I really enjoyed this
Not the greatest songs ever but energetic and well played. And funny. However the last song is gobsmackingly awful.

I watched Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl yesterday, available on Sky Arts on-demand. To be honest it’s not something I think I ever need to revisit...

American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco had to cancel its entire run of the play Toni Stone (one of three women to play professional baseball), but you can buy a ticket to stream it (and keep ACT alive)! I plan to do so: secure.act-sf.org/gloria-tonistone-streaming/1375

Gresham College have lots of on-line lectures - also you can attend live for free during normal circumstances, I normally go to a few a year in person and watch a few more on-line - sometimes they have a theatrical one, Michael Pennington gave one on Shakespeare recently . Here's one of topical interest:

Channel 5's new drama Penance I misread this as 'Penzance' and then for some reason my mind jumped to "They've done a drama series that's a gritty re-imagining of the world of Pirates of Penzance??" What the hell, brain. (Er, no offence to anyone here who might live in the real Penzance. I'm sure there's much more to your town than being the setting of PoP. Really.) Anyway... BroadwayHD is offering a free 7-day trial subscription. You need to actively cancel the subscription before the 7 days are up, or it will be automatically rolled into a paying subscription.

Not Theatrical, found a gem on iPlayer, Soft Border Patrol, a Northern Ireland comedy in the style of W1A about the soft border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland following Brexit.
Now want to find a way to watch the first two series.

John Finnemore is doing a short funny being Arthur Shapps in isolation in his mother’s granny flat while she is next door in the house. I found it on twitter but not hard to find I dont think.

I know it's off topic but Jesus Mother and Mary; if they pull off what is effectively a new 4,000 bed ICU, in London, fully staffed (with returnees), and fully equipped (new gadgets still testing), in what would be under two weeks .. can't think of a bigger peacetime achievement.
For goodness sake, 35,000 NHS returnees and last-year students .. Also reading the Gov has ordered the new test to see if you've had it - can that really be true.

This development with the doctors is very interesting. They will have to look at the pension/working stuff that has taken so many docs off the roll because it wasn’t worth their while carrying on. Then they can look at the nurses. People studying nursing should not pay fees - nor should medicals at all - and should be given maintenance in exchange for saying they will work in the NHS for say 5 years after qualification. Simples. And I think there are probably quite a few people who would like to take up nursing, in all its forms, care homes, hospitals, clinics, with GPs, who do not necessarily require degrees. Don’t knock me back. I know the level of degree entry isn’t that great and we require a certain level of literacy etc, but there are different levels and perhaps it could become possible to train within the profession, on the job to move between the levels and gain extra skills. Flexibility that is and recognition that we need all of these people.
Oh and of course, double the pay.
