It saddens me that Tammy Faye has not been well received on Broadway. I saw it at the Almeida and loved it. I'm tempted to see it on B'way, when I get home next week, to see for myself what they've done to it.
There have actually been too many openings this season, and not enough audience to go around. It wouldn't surprise me if Cabaret closed -- it got mixed reviews, but some were devastating, like the Daily News. Sunset Blvd. has been up on B'way TKTS nearly every day.

Oh yes, to all of that. I just meant with the way costs have inflated so massively it just seems to be getting to an insane point. Never underestimate people who have lots of money who can afford to lose some of it.

The people who can afford to lose some of it, never came into money by losing some of it. I don’t hold with the argument that someone is a ‘donor to the arts.’ when their money is written off. People who invest in shows deserve a very reasonable chance of a return on their investment, at the moment there is a slim chance of shows recouping.

Commercial theatre is like Las Vegas, you win some, you lose some.
