Nooooooooooo. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy that it’s getting a second life but I’m assuming this means no chance for London?

A shame they are seemingly snubbing a London transfer. It didn’t work for Groundhog Day…

Disappointing for us but could well have been the plan from the outset.
To produce and stage a new musical at a relatively small highly regarded theatre like the Almeida must have cost a fraction of the cost of going straight to Broadway, and there are positive reviews to help create an initial buzz there.

The talk on broadwayworld is it will be the reopening show at the renovated Palace Theatre, after a limited series of concerts by big names.
If true, the Palace seems ambitious

The Palace?! My thought was a theatre in the 1100-1200 range like the Broadhurst or if they wanted to go smaller the Walter Kerr.

Curious how much of the UK cast will be with it. Guessing Katie and Andrew will be in the lead roles but kind of hoping the cast Broadway/American for the remaining roles.
Already picturing Brooks Ashmanskas as Falwell…

That theatre is huge. That would be a huuuuge mistake. Even if they expanded the design- it still isn’t a ‘big’ show.

At the Almeida, nothing is a big show, but it did allow them to test the material. The Palace may or may not be the theatre of choice but I have a feeling that given the recent revamp/workshop and move to Broadway, it will bear minor comparison to the previous production and for good reason if they are heading to a bigger house.

Nothing is being snubbed intentionally.
There were plans in place to transfer to the Gillian Lynn before the Almeida run started, which had to be cancelled after Katie announced her pregnancy and after all involved how crucial she was to the success of the show. They hoped to postpone the W/E run till early 2024 but Skye's Edge ended up taking the slot they wanted, and there was no other theatre available that met their requirements.
Alot of people worked hard to try to make a West End transfer happen. It's a shame they were not successful. It happens. A future West End run isn’t impossible but there are no active plans as of this moment. However things change all the time in theatre. 🤞

James Graham was on Desert Island Discs this week and he chose Tammy Faye as one of his choices, they play a bit of Katie singing If You Came to See Me Cry – www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001x48w

Given that it seems like this won’t be on Broadway for very long now……I wonder whether they’ll retreat, lick their wounds and then come back to London in another year or two?

I’d say with these reviews and the imminent swift closure of Broadway- that’s highly unlikely. It’s hardly covered in glory now. They should have transferred it to a london theatre, huge mistake.

I agree entirely. Madness not to transfer to the West End first instead. Broadway is just so unforgiving and cut-throat. It's Groundhog Day all over again. On another note, I see they have changed the Broadway artwork.
