A lot of the information here is not quite correct. Of course sometimes unexpected things happen and choices have to be made. But remember things are often planned months or even years ahead of being announced to the public. Best of Enemies booked its West End transfer before the original run was over, but didn’t announce it for six months. Interesting that Best of Enemies already had a transfer deal in place before the Young Vic run had finished but I assume they didn't have the theatre confirmed until DEH announced it was closing.

I’m struggling to think of anyone with the vocal and acting ability to replace KB...there are lots of soul singers who could belt out the two power ballads and lots of actors who could do the rest but finding someone who can do the whole package seems tough....

I have a last-minute spare under 30s ticket for tomorrow's matinee, if anyone is looking for one. It's in the centre of the circle. Otherwise I'll try and return with the box office.

I would be absolutely amazed if they did this without Katie Brayben.
Really hope that whenever a further run happens, it will be in London and that they don't do an American Psycho style move straight to NY.
WE transfers of Almeida musicals just never seem to happen!

It is defo transferring. ^ I'd imagine they'd need to scale up the cast too; they have hired two swings who came into the process quite late.

There is no way they will transfer this without KB.
There honestly isn’t much of a show left if you take her performance away.

Like SRB and KMP, KB seems to have joined that small group of actors known just by their initials. 🙂

Katherine McPhee SRB is Simon Russell Beale?? I'd add SJP, SJB and JRB to the list.

MrBarnaby is right, there really isn't much of a show here with Brayben, her performance is the glue that holds it all together.

From what I understand, it's going on ice for a year or so until the 'bump in the road' is crossed and decisions can be be made!

Cassidy is (presumably) available end of March??

Fabulously kitsch and Kate Brayben is an absolute star.
The piece needs some work for it to become the new messiah but its still excellent.

From what I understand, it's going on ice for a year or so until the 'bump in the road' is crossed and decisions can be be made! "Bump" in the road or not, I seriously doubt that the producers behind a hot property such as this will go "on ice" for a year. The last thing they want to do after working on this show for a decade is allow it to lose the momentum or worse, let it just fade away following promising reviews and great word-of-mouth. I would expect that they will put out a press release/teaser once the show closes in a couple of weeks (and maybe even mention the "bump" as a good reason to delay if that is true) then likely announce West End dates in early spring (around Oliviers time where the show, and certainly Ms Brayben will be collecting some awards) for a late summer reopening. It isn't unheard of for shows to open bookings well in advance (they gain interest while the money sits in their accounts) so again, if it is going to transfer at all I think we will know something sooner rather than later. While a "bump" is always wonderful news (if that is the true cause of any delay), it could be a gift to the creative team to go away and do some much-needed tweaking before heading to bigger pastures.

I think the second act needs workshopping from the beginning again, and that Brayben's performance is covering a lot of cracks in the material. In my opinion.

Had the day off work and it was my intention to sloth on the sofa. Plus it was raining. So, with the duvet over me, I watched the Tammy Faye film.
Jessica Chastain puts in a mighty performance.
