I see The Guardian's former reviewer is in conversation at the National on Monday for an hour (£9, £6 for the over 60s). Obv. can't run over much/at all as it's in the Lyttleton and The Welkin kicks orf at half seven. The event begins at 5.45pm:
There are a few more of the same type coming up featuring:
Rafe Spall - 2nd March Lesley Manville - 20th March, 3PM
Something else that's coming up (16th March) - this time by Faber and it's free! - is 'David Lan in conversation'. Two hours this one, and it's at Faber, Bloomsbury House (next to the British Museum). You have to join Faber and then book for free:
So far I'm down for Billington and David Lan. Won't have much time for a chat after Billy Boy (as I have to get to The Bridge on Monday), but would be nice to say hi at David Lan. Shame really, might have been nice to have a drinking game based on how many times he mentions Pinter

Well that was just a marvellous hour; Billington himself was very engaging and knowledgeable, but what a cast! Aisling Loftus read some passages from Little Island (before dashing off to the Donmar) - so good Sir SRB and Penelope Wilton read all of the Torcello scene from Betrayal, and I was mesmerised, completely captivating! Then Sir SRB and Oliver Ford Davies read from David Hare's 1990 Racing Demons Q&A at the end. Rufus was maitre d'. Sitting in the 3rd row
Dashed off to The Bridge for A Number. What an extraordinary thing it is we have in this city.

I love the NT pre-show talks. Don't forget to check universities as well - they all have a huge range of public talks and other events over lunchtimes and in the evening and they are all free. The Wiener Library also does some really interesting stuff and again all free: www.wienerlibrary.co.uk/Whats-On The only thing I hate about public talks are the audience questions - it really flags up what a huge percentage of our fellow citizens are selfish, oblivious, stupid or just plain mad...

The audience questions at this weren't too bad. Though the one that asked what was his favourite Lear when two former Lear's were on the stage with him was somewhat undiplomatic!

One I would like to attend, will depend on the running time of Shoe Lady at the Royal Court.
After all the short plays over the last few months and where a short play would be advantageous Shoe Lady will likely be the one that bucks the trend and will turn out to be an epic.

Probably 15 minutes on a bike, or door-to-door on the tube .. tbh, it's only an informal chat, I'm sure you can drift in if running a little late.

An indication of things to come:
We are reviewing our current public programme of events at RADA during the next few weeks in the light of the evolving situation regarding coronavirus, and we very are sorry to let you know that we are postponing Michael Billington: How Acting Has Changed on 25 March given current uncertainties.
All tickets will be automatically refunded in the next couple of days.
Thank you very much for your interest in this event. We will be in touch when we have been able to confirm a new date.

Let’s hope by the time we are through this that acting hasn’t changed too much..

'David Lan in conversation' at Faber next Monday (see earlier post) has also been cancelled. They might try and set up a live video stream. I'd imagine the post-performance chat the Old Vic will also fall foul. Starting to feel a bit like the Endgame.
